#4Depending on the bad actors you are trying to protect against, cycling through ones you self-host and one's you subscribe to are best. Check out lantern, google's outline, tor etc. Currently, the most secure have wireguard at their core. It's do-able with a little study. Distributed web will be the evil-do'ers elimination and is coming sooner than you think.
**thank god for all the silicon valley gurus (I use that as a universal label) keeping the world free, educated, and in touch with the truth.

#5This question is nearly impossible to answer if you don’t add more context about what you want to achieve.

#6The ones you can buy with monero or cash.
Re: Ask HN: What's the Best VPN?
#7As already mentioned this is highly dependent on why you want a VPN and what's most important to you. That being said, an internet hero by the name of ThatOnePrivacyGuy researched and scrutinized a significant number of available VPNs using numerous data points and compiled them all into a spreadsheet for easy comparison.
The original site is now defunct [0], but has been merged with SafetyDetectives, and so now the full comparison can be found here [1].
Without any other details, that is your best place to start looking.

Self hosted VPN on DO or Linode (where you're paying with your credit card) won't protect privacy, right?
