Not sure if this exists. Does anyone know of any employers in tech that offer a pension? My skill set is web development but I am open to hearing about other tech roles, too. Thanks!

#2Universities often offer decent benefits, including pensions in some cases. Also, state and local govts tend to do this as well (depending on your state)

#3When I freelanced as a frontend engineer for NBC-Universal in 2007-2008, the full-timers had pensions. They might still offer that.

#4I'd be curious to know what folks see as the benefits to a pension that are otherwise not reproducible with a 401(k) and standard brokerage account. The only difference with the brokerage is ERISA protection, which provides protection from creditors in the case of a judgment.

A pension offers a guaranteed income at a specific rate based on your salary at the time you retire. With 401(k) you get what you get based on how you invested and what the market did.
