Ask HN: Infrastructure for a one person SaaS side project?

I am planning to use 2 Digital Ocean droplets:

1. app-01: App

2. worker-01: Web Scrapers / Workers

and their managed PostgreSQL offering.

Stack: Flask /Jinja2 + JavaScript/PostgreSQL / Scrapy

Any thoughts on this?

We use AWS where I work (don't want to end up with a "huge" bill). Will I be better off using a pass offering like Heroku (I will have to learn it)?

Seems fine to me! If you want you can probably just run it all on one Droplet to save costs for now.

If you're able, I'd recommend using a DigitalOcean droplet with dedicated vCPUs -- they're a bit more expensive but you'll have normalized CPU performance and won't be choked out by noisy neighbor issues on the general purpose Droplets.
