Yesterday, US President Trump was impeached.

On the one hand, it may have strengthened his reelection campaign. Impeachment gives the President yet another example of the "witch hunt" he talks about; he can use impeachment as a cause around which to rally his Republican base.

On the other hand, it sets a precedent. Impeaching Trump now makes a powerful statement about holding the President accountable, and that there are consequences for his actions.
