In the 1950’s, the tech companies of that era were the aerospace companies designing the latest fighters and bombers.
It’s funny because in the 1930’s airplanes were heralded as a tool of peace that would bring people closer together.
We’ll see something similar with tech shifting from utopian visions to a “tech industrial complex” supporting the military.
Obviously lots of money was made. So much that the companies bloated. McDonald Douglas, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, all used to be separate companies. In fact, even Boeing and United Airlines were the same company at one point...
