Ask HN: No internet?

#1
So I'm going to ask a question which on it's surface, might seem a little crazy, but give it some thought:

How long do you think it'll be before a considerable part of the population opts to go without internet?

Again, I know it sounds a little odd, but between the increasingly harassing and monopolistic behavior of ISPs, the increasing push of restrictive internet laws, and certainly the increasingly invasive surveillance, do you think people will start to just say it isn't worth it at some point?

I don't think a sizeable portion of the population that has access to the internet will ever choose to go back.

TV and Internet are very different animals. How many school projects nowadays require kids to go home, turn on their TV and research a topic on HGTV?

If it gets to the level of bad OP is thinking about, no kid is going to keep it just to do school research projects. You might as well just print out some stuff from the school computers at that point.
