Product-minded full-stack engineer with 15 years experience.

Recent technical write-up and open-source project I made that reached #1 on HackerNews: https://ptx2.net/posts/unbricking-a-bike-with-a-raspberry-pi

Some things I've designed/built/launched/maintained professionally: high-traffic web frontend/backends, realtime interactive graphics apps, data visualizations, computer vision apps, firmware, reverse engineering, video/image processing, apis, api integrations (payments/social/data), distributed systems, linux sysadmin, refactoring/maintaining legacy systems, managing small engineering teams, remote work, customer facing work.

Some areas of interest: the outdoors, health and fitness, art, music, environment, games, human computer interaction, product design, ui/ux, embedded/iot devices, privacy, security, networking, optimization, unusual companies/products, web, linux.

Looking for interesting software engineer or tech co-founder/director/advisor opportunities!

I’m an ML researcher/engineer at MIT + CS/Linguistics undergrad at Northeastern, looking for freelance roles or internships/co-ops (Jan–Aug 2026) in ML, backend, full-stack, or systems. Also willing to be recruited on an O-1 to the right startup.

Currently interning at a YC W25 startup Mosaic (usemosaic.ai) where I:

- Built the public API, our MCP server, and a video agent that turns longform content into shorts with auto captions and posts them

- Helped scale us to 100+ paying users in closed beta, 4k on the waitlist, and we're launching before my internship ends so you'll probably hear about us soon

Also built SHFLA (https://github.com/tetraslam/SHFLA), a fractal music language that won the MIT Media Lab hackathon, hit HN front page, and got me demo requests from Stephen Wolfram, David Sinclair, Joscha Bach, and Suno AI.

I move fast, write clean code, and deliver 10x what you pay me. I'm also very fun to hang around with and work with! Have several references who can vouch :)

Location: Boston, MA (in San Francisco for the summer)

Remote: Yes, or hybrid in Boston, but willing to get an O-1 and move to SF/NYC for the right startup/company (already fulfill 5 criteria)

Willing to relocate: Anywhere in the US

Technologies: Python, Zig, C/C++, PyTorch, CUDA, Supabase, Redis, FastAPI, NextJS, Slurm, Linux, Tinygrad, Typescript, TailwindCSS, Langchain, HPC, Vite, uv

I'm Zachary. I've been writing software for about 25 years, mostly with things around the Web though I have worked a bit with hardware and IoT. Notably I've worked at large tech companies like Google (itself, Fiber, and Checks) and Block/Square, as well as others like Opendoor and Cerner.

Lately I've been building TypeScript heavy full-stack stuff. I would consider myself a fullstack-capable engineer but have swung probably 60/40 in both directions at different times.

Ex-FAANG. I've spent my recent career leading engineering teams of 10+ to ship world class products. Expertise in managing product timelines, overseeing architectural design/implementation, & keeping companies ahead of their competition. As an IC, I love to dig deep into technical problems, ship products with full autonomy/ownership, and make products look beautiful (see some old work at www.beaver.digital).

I recently built www.blendful.com if you would like to see the kind of things I like to craft on the frontend. I'm also comfortable doing infra/backend work.

I'm excited to hear from you! :)

Résumé/CV: N/A

Email: [HN username]@gmail.com

My focus has been on browser automation and building browser agents since 2018, with 13 years of enterprise experience building dynamic data user interfaces for web and mobile. I have experience working at both medium 130 person AI companies and small, fast-moving 7 person teams wearing many different hats, which I prefer. I have been instrumental in taking multiple companies from 0 to 1, both as a consultant and as a full-time employee in media, real estate, marketing, streaming services, education, and fintech.

Currently, I have a side project building a Chrome extension using VSCode’s core libraries. I’m working on incorporating the VSCode Copilot Chat—which they released the source code for last week—to create a Copilot for the browser. [0]

I look forward to speaking with you :)
