I am a data engineer / full stack dev / bioinformatician, with a number of turns in my career so far. After graduating from a prestiguous university and landing a high earning job in 2014, I left it in 2016 for a role in a research institute, and then worked in life sciences and did contract work on the side, until in 2022 AI became big and I joined a healthcare start-up. Since April this year I'm temporarily a hobby programmer and a dad.

I am good at turning prototypes into products, orienting myself in novel domains, and improving hopelessly broken codebases.

Looking for opportunities to do worthwhile work. Over the years I was able to do plenty of meaningful work, in academic, commercial, and non-profit contexts, and I would quite like to continue. If my profile - the CV or one of the technologies listed - is a match for you, do send me an email!

Willing to relocate: For the right fit, NYC or Europe.

Email: Present in the links above, or my username at gmail dotcom and put [HN] in the subject line. Verbatim emails on this thread are routinely harvested for spamming purposes. Don't post yours here.

Technologies: Are listed on my resume and gravitate around fullstack. To get past bad filters, I enumerate TypeScript React Python Scala Elixir Tailwind Linux Node Kotlin Android Docker Git C++ COBOL (just kidding) aaand PostgreSQL. I'm messing with Svelte, ktor.io, DaggerCI and ArgoCD in a current role.

Seeking: Series B -ish, 20-50 headcount-ish, bonus points for work in Health, Education, or Environmental sectors. Hybrid 40% in the Boston metro is ideal, but full onsite to full remote is all fair game, and if you are still reading, have a wonderful day and make a stranger smile.

Statement: Don't hire me for a hard skills match. Hire me for versatility as a polyglot agnostic builder of stuff, mentorship capacity to strengthen your whole team, bulletproof optimism in a fast-paced and uncertain world, a low-maintenance and well-behaved ego, and the occasional classy dad joke (no, I don't have kids).

Looking for: Full-time Software Engineer roles.

Hello,

I am a full stack engineer with experience in a range of technologies, including JavaScript/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and React. Before software development, I worked within academia as a research analyst, examining interesting questions in the public health/healthcare spectrum - I primarily analyzed healthcare data and did a lot of data analysis.

I recently built Willow with a team of four engineers. It is an open-source, self-hosted framework for building Change Data Capture data pipelines, which updates Redis caches in near real-time based on changes in a PostgreSQL database. You can read more about Willow here: https://willow-cdc.github.io/

If any of this sounds interesting, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
