Don't sell yourself short man. I'd value a self taught programmer in their 40s with an MBA over a recent MIT CS grad any day.

I've hired a few folks with "non-traditional" backgrounds and usually the biggest indicator of success is previous work experience, regardless of industry. Just having had to get things done on a deadline and communicating your progress are huge underrated skills that seem to come with age and experience more than anything else.

I have a non-transitional background and I get work done. I'm looking for a bigger company at the moment, whether a well established startup or a public company. I have about two years of experience.

An inclusive environment is a plus.
