We have early product-market fit and a growing list of paying customers, and we’re looking to hire people who are excited about joining an early-stage startup and helping build a world-class engineering culture. We’re looking for engineers (any part of the stack) and our first technical product manager to join our founding team and help us invent the future of data analytics. We’re an early team so we’re still establishing large parts of our software stack - you will have major ownership over the product and you’ll help us pick the right technologies. We have a culture of autonomy and ownership and want engineers who are excited to drive the company forward. As an early employee you’ll help us craft our culture and will be aware of (or participate in) customer development and go-to market.

MiraDx is a medical diagnostics lab that uses microRNA assays to help personalize cancer treatments and for drug development as well as providing COVID testing.

Last year, we rolled out a new React-based platform on top of our existing LIMS, and we're looking for a second full-time engineer to own that codebase to invest in it for the long term. Here are some specific areas we want to work on: - footgun prevention: building checks into systems to make it harder for users to mistakenly upload incorrect data in the lab - enough integration tests to demonstrate happy paths, significantly more unit tests for our API, and a LIMS sandbox that lets us setup and teardown within tests - better decoupling between our React codebase and database - removing unnecessary complexity: we would love someone who can advocate for why refactoring would be a good idea - building new features: as we roll out new tests, we will need ways for those tests to be ordered, tracked, and the data to be reported out - investing in making building new features easier in the future

Smarkets develops a reliable, low-latency, highly concurrent betting exchange based on trading exchange designs. We're also building a fast, modern web interface to allow for a smoother experience. Servicing our users is top priority.

The Smarkets platform is written predominantly in Python, C++ (replacing still present Erlang) and Javascript for React & React-Native, relying heavily on asynchronous programming techniques. The tech stack sports Kafka, Postgres and Kubernetes. We use REST where we can, and gRPC where we can't.

Life at Smarkets circles around people, version control, configuration management and automation. We can - and do - deploy to production several times a day. Production environment is in AWS. In fact, Smarkets was the first gambling operator under the Maltese regulator to get permission to run everything in the cloud. We push the envelope where needed and educate auditors when necessary.

We are looking for engineering talent all across the board: frontend and mobile, infrastructure, data science, trading engine, security - and of course generalists, those yet to find their calling.
