Who Is Hiring threads are not the place to litigate that—there's absolutely no way to sort through what happened in a context like this. Apologies. I only replied because I applied to Canonical through their Who's Hiring post and didn't want others to follow the same path with these expectations. Their salary negotiation process was horrible to say the least.
