In my next role, I want a broad mandate to make a meaningful impact within an organization by developing products that address genuine business challenges, with a preference for data related problems.

Recently I built the data table for Jupyter/Pandas/Polars that I have wanted for over a decade. The open source Buckaroo (https://github.com/paddymul/buckaroo) data table combines a performant table, summary statistics, and a low code UI to expedite common data analysis tasks.

Experienced and passionate staff/senior software engineer/team lead with over 15 years of professional experience, specialising in backend development using Go, Ruby/Rails, and more recently, Elixir.

Have become quite proficient in creating distributed, event-driven, reasonably-sized services, data ingestion pipelines, and performing DevOps tasks, including building CI/CD pipelines and managing cloud services like AWS with Terraform. Also quite solid in Docker, Linux, and platform engineering. Check out a demo of my work at https://github.com/okulik/geo-ip-server.

Seeking remote work, full-time/part-time, B2B contracts (DTTs with most countries), or traditional employment (EOR), in Europe and US time zones (with up to a 4-hour EST overlap).

Feel free to email me for a CV.

I've scaled https://jsonip.com to serve over a billion requests per month.

I have over 15 years of experience in web development at all levels of the stack, from DB and writing backend API's to full frontend implementations (think html/css/js, creating frontend frameworks, etc).

I'm very interested in some new challenges to tackle and grow my skill set.

I am an undergraduate Electrical/Computer Engineering student at the University of Toronto graduating in May 2024, currently searching for new grad opportunities. I just wrapped up a 16 month Co-op doing verification for high speed interfaces (100G Ethernet/PCIE Gen6) last year, and am currently doing a thesis project in systems software on log compression using static analysis.

I'm interested in a wide variety of technical work spanning the range from lab tasks characterizing hardware, hardware development or verification, firmware development, systems software, backend software development, and infrastructure work. I'm hoping to work in industries surrounding climate/energy or other industries where my work would make a positive impact. Shoot me an email if it sounds like I would be a good fit.

Thanks for reading. I'm looking to be a founding engineer in a mission driven start up. I'm interested in building all the things from the ground up. I've done this before in a few places. So if you are looking to get your whole stack up off the ground including: Basic App, Monitoring, CI/CD, Infrastructure, etc. I'm your guy. Looking for smallish orgs with biggish goals with no more than 10 people. Willing to travel a few times a quarter if necessary for F2F. Thanks!
