My career has been split between Developer and DevOps roles, and I enjoy both. Also, I have been working remotely since 2019 in groups that span a wide range of time zones, but I would welcome a hybrid role.

The reason my last position was for only one year is because it was a startup and we ran out of funding.

Background: Masters in control theory and signal processing, working in the auto industry for the last 7 years, first on low level powertrain software then the last year or so on LIDAR/computer vision for autonomous vehicles. I've done the most work in C, but I'm now getting up to speed on python and the computer vision/numpy/data processing pipeline stack there for data quality/perception work, along with Linux desktop application architecting and development for AV utilities. Recently had to read the Linux kernel source and use the BCC tool suite to find a subtle issue in the network stack causing high latency on sensor data for AV, also coincidentally fixed most of the network timing infrastructure.

Currently working on some eBPF/BCC tools to improve GPU compute latency diagnosis and optimize model runs, with a plan to open source the results in a couple months.

Primary skills include hard real time embedded systems, safety critical applications, firmware development, system integration and complex hardware/software interaction debugging, along with detailed data analysis problems.

Side interests include machining, 3D printing, embedded system development, coffee roasting and furniture making.

As a product designer with 7+ years of experience, I have lead effort across a wide range of products and problem spaces. My guiding principles have remained the same from the moment I stepped into my first product design role; keep it simple, lead with intent, and be a force-multiplier. I'm passionate about these principles and make every effort to align them with my career goals. I am currently crafting amazing experiences with Immigrate, a Saskatoon-based company that matches workers with Canadian employers at an international level. At Immigrate, I lead the launch of our immigration ecosystem, the first tool of its kind in the immigration industry that allows a nearly 10x increase in application processing speed. Prior to Immigrate, I worked with Vendasta to build end-to-end experiences for a variety of users within the b2b realm, and several other startup companies in industries spanning from automotive to web development. I believe my range of experience is an asset and allows me to approach problems from different angles not immediately apparent.
