Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind a couple of questions: - is the compensation worth it? - do you think this is going to be a long term thing for you (burning the candle at both ends)?

Cash comp is around 800K pre tax, to me it's worth it; I'm able to push tons of cash into my retirement accounts and do things like purchase a vacation home.

I've been doing it for the past few years, and it hasn't had a negative effect on my mental well being or family relationships. I work extra here and there, sure, but so does everyone, and it has more to do with "we need to do this at this specific time" than any actual extra work needing to be done.

IF the employers are happy with the work, or even not, nobody is getting exploited here. IF the work suffers, they are free to fire.

For the properties, people need to rent from someone. Landlords are only scum if they mistreat their tenants.

No, it won't "go fine". You'll be lying to both of your employers. That's not "fine" and it can't possibly end well for anyone.

As long as someone's getting their work done, nobody will notice. People have their own problems to worry about. In that respect, it is "fine." Everyone is getting what they paid for: results.

I don't believe there are many devs in the us working a full 8 hour day.

I have children and they take up as much or more bandwidth than a second job would. I totally believe someone could work 2 dev jobs at once.

Senior to Staff positions at medium to large private or mid cap public companies expect little from their engineers :).

Definitely not 10x and I suck at leetcode style problems. I'm probably a 2xer who acts like a 1xer. That's the real secret. Don't overachieve.

I purposely job hunt for low performing teams/companies who are willing to pay for experience. Also, managing my calendar religiously is a must.

Why do you think this is the case? Some people can never get enough, i know some people who complain so much that you'd think they were living in the streets but their household income exceeds 500k, it is just a mentality thing.

you don't know what financial challenges they are facing, so there is no point in arguing that 500K is enough for their household.
