Could I ask for a source on that and how common it is? Seems like it was used way back in the cold war (and even then not blocked/jammed) and I'd guess that current authoritarian regimes would perhaps not bother considering how few could use it.

If you are in Europe you can easily listen Dengle Welat (1) or other Kurdish radios jammed by Turkey government with the anthem or other patriotic songs. Or the Buzzer, the Russian military UVB-76 transmission (2), jammed frequently by Ukrainian ham radio operators

HF are really noisy. You need a lot of error correction to ensure that the package is consistent and without any error. This will drastically decrease the real bit rate.

I'm saying slacktivism won't get you anywhere. There is no technical solution to cultivating a better political culture.

You are trying to frame someones reasonable activism as slacktivism. And its not framing that passes muster. Its not slacktivism because it happens on Discord instead of Teams.

Indonesia and Indonesians must do more of that. Take that responsibility. Get the country under control. Improve the political culture. Get a better standard of democracy.

One of the reasons Russia, for example, is out of control is because Russians stopped taking responsibility for their own country. They surrendered to apathy and nihilism. Bit by bit they allowed authoritarianism to take over again. It's going to be hard to get a better political culture back in Russia. It will take a long time.

Is WebRTC being blocked by China? I'm wondering whether it'd be worthwile to implement an VPN that uses WebRTC as a transport. With cover traffic, it could likely be made to look just like a video call.

Due to the specific ISP environment in China (massive NAT abuse, very limited public IP access, ISP actively dropping anything that does not look like HTTPS to ensure QoS), any P2P based protocol in China is generally unusuable. They are not blocked per se, but they are mostly non-existent.

Yes, I know BitTorrent network in China is huge thanks to the weak DMCA law enforcement towards individuals, but having no practical legal consideration does not mean it's enjoyable to use.

The ratio between Indonesian parliamentary income and the median Indonesian income is ~18x, while the ratio in the US is ~4x. As someone who wants US congressional income to be substantially higher, it's hard for me to be upset at that on its own. There are plenty of other variables at play, though, and a direct comparison of these ones might not be getting at the issue.
