Comm | engineering | NYC onsite | https://comm.app | https://comm.page

We're a privacy startup based in NYC working on scaling E2E encryption with personal, private servers. Our first application is a federated Discord alternative targeted at crypto communities. Our biggest need right now is for an Infrastructure Lead that’s very experienced with Rust.

Infrastructure Lead - Rust - https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/comm/07697269-644c-4913-8ea0-60f7ee...

Comm's long-term goal is to build an alternative to the centralized application server model that dominates Web2. Sophisticated apps (like Discord) need a backend, but today those backends are controlled by corporations. Our solution is to replace the cloud with a network of personal, private application servers (we call them “keyservers”).

If this sounds interesting please reach out to ashoat@comm.app!

Ride with GPS | Senior Backend Engineer for our Mapping Team | Portland or Remote USA | Full Time | https://ridewithgps.com/about We are the world's largest library of bike routes, and we enable cyclists to go on better rides, more often. We have a website and mobile apps that allow riders to discover the best riding in their area, and get turn by turn navigation using either our mobile apps or the bike computer of their choosing. Come join us in taking Ride with GPS to the next level! We have one opening right now:

- Mapping Engineer: https://ridewithgps.com/careers/mapping_engineer - Build and maintain high performance map related tools, and work with our extensive geospatial data to identify the best areas to ride. Visualize all of our rides with high performance heatmapping code: https://ridewithgps.com/heatmap. Use our rider data to identify the popularity of roads in OSM, and use that as an influence to the route solving engine, enabling popularity based routing. We are doubling down and expanding the tooling we use to identify the best places to ride, and to help people discover them. We are language agnostic, and focus on picking the right one for the job. These include Ruby, Python, Java, and Rust. This is a small, pragmatic, high impact but low overhead team focused on expanding the boundaries of what we can do with mapping data.

Instructions available at https://ridewithgps.com/careers. Send resume + cover letter to careers@ridewithgps.com with an optional brief paragraph about your relationship to cycling or the outdoors. Riding bikes is not required, but we do find it helps!

Dream of a future where deploying software is simple, and you don't need an army of infrastructure engineers to build that perfect janky bash script™ to make life easy? We're Railway, and we think infrastructure can be better. So far we've built out a…

I don't see pay range(s) listed for the open roles. Not sure how many employees you have, but at least in California, if you have 15 or more, you have to disclose a pay range in the job listing. Colorado has a similar laws. New York's takes effect in September 2023 (and applies to 4 or more employees).

Great point, this is also true about other states now. I've noticed generally only large multinationals are listing salary ranges online, smaller companies aren't doing that and they resist when you ask. In Colorado and Washington State you are also required supposed to do this now too.
