SEEKING WORK | Remote Only | Los Angeles, CA

I am an independent web developer (since 2005) that specializes in complex CMS-based websites (ProcessWire / Drupal / WordPress) where end-clients need to be able to effortlessly manage the content. I work mainly in PHP and more server-side based solutions (HTMX, not React). I do a lot of website re-development (ie, sites that have fallen into disrepair and need a fresh start with existing data).

SEEKING FREELANCER | Los Angeles, CA or Remote

We are looking for two short term contractors.

#1) WordPress plugins

Looking for a skilled WordPress plugin developer to help us polish off some plugins we've built, and later implement a way to charge for some of them. I estimate this is a week or two of work.

#2) JS Animations

Looking for a freelancer who specializes in JS animation. Looking to build an internal tool to animate parts of a website. Must have a low level understanding of browser animation APIs (if you don't know what requestAnimationFrame does, then this isn't for you). Probably only a day or two of work for someone good.

We are based in Los Angeles, but you can be anywhere.

SEEKING WORK | Edinburgh, Scotland | REMOTE

Well versed in python and javascript, but capable in other languages as well (have deployed Java/Golang/C recently). I've recently been working in privacy/security, currently working on combating disinformation.

I've been big on python testing lately. I've implemented testing for large python projects at two companies now, bringing them from 0% coverage to 100% coverage. I'm experienced in mocking tools to isolate components for testing, make tests deterministic, and remove the need for networking (who wants to run tests that rely on third party things).

Big on Django but not restricted to that. Lots of experience with modern react/vue. I've been a remote worker for about half a decade now, so I had a track record of getting things done without direct supervision, and my remote work means my schedule is flexible for side projects. Set up to easily work with either US or UK entities.

SEEKING WORK | Remote (Phoenix, AZ) | Fractional CTO / Full-Stack Web Dev (15+ years XP)

I have 15+ years experience leading teams (and personally as an IC) building full-stack web apps from MVP to Enterprise. I get the business side (founded multiple startups — cvtrack.com most recently), I understand good UI/UX design (5 years Director for design/development agency), and run efficient teams as a PM / technical lead or fractional CTO (5+ years as PM and fractional CTO).

My specialty is coming into existing startup (Because I'm so hands-on, as a full-stack developer I will also build web apps (solo or as part of a team) in a variety of languages and frameworks (PHP/Laravel, Ruby/Rails, Elixir/Phoenix, Python/Django) — and I merge it with good design understanding, product sense, and business value.

Previous client engagements: First Solar, Sophos, General Dynamics, among many, many amazing startups Previous positions: Tuft & Needle (head of engineering), GoDaddy (product management)

SEEKING WORK | USA, Eastern timezone | remote only | part-time

Technologies: Python, NumPy, Torch, C++, Linux

I specialize in speech and audio processing, but I'm open to a wide variety of back-end work. I like short-term or intermittent jobs, but would also consider longer-term.

I started as a developer in 2005, bringing to production and then maintaining and documenting a distributed entity resolution system in C++ and Python. I started working with speech and audio in 2013, primarily working solo on my own Web application for foreign language pronunciation learning, which you can try at https://accentlab.net . This involved developing the full stack, from collecting and cleaning speech data, to training my own custom acoustic models for pronunciation analysis in Python with NumPy and Torch, to learning Flask, Django, Bootstrap and JavaScript for the web interface, to user testing.

For freelancing, I prefer jobs involving speech or audio processing, but I'm open to a wide variety of tasks, primarily backend. Jobs I've particularly enjoyed include: a quick bounty for rooting out synchronization bugs in a large multithreaded C++ codebase; developing custom audio processing modules with SciPy's filter library; creating a speech keyword-spotting module for a telephone assistant using a pre-trained Kaldi model; training a custom classifier for music synthesizer samples.

Other jobs I've done include using APIs for HubSpot, Zoho, AdSense, etc.; helping businesses with bulk generation of PDFs; developing a cross-platform TkInter application.

My Upwork profile https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~01a1b1fe58b78de9cc is currently only visible to Upwork users due to lack of recent activity; my ratings are all 5-star and I can provide you with the reviews if you're interested.

Please get in touch via email, craig dot jb at gmail with some information about your project. Looking forward to hearing from you!
