Full stack developer with "T-shaped" skills. Vim enthusiast with a Bachelors in computer science, user interfaces, and API integration. Currently back-n-forth between a few projects: building a Notionlike strength training platform in React; operating as a fractional SWE (hands-on features/fixes/optimizations, distilling tech details to non-technical leadership); and a vibe coded Tmux multi-session viewer.

I am searching for full time, part time or contract opportunities.

Location: Osaka, Japan Remote: Yes Willing to relocate: Yes — SF / NYC / Seattle / Tokyo / London (with visa sponsorship) Technologies: Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Metal, Core ML, ARKit, RealityKit, Vision, AVFoundation, visionOS, MLX, llama.cpp, coremltools, ONNX, YOLO, SAM, LaMa, Kotlin / TFLite / NNAPI Résumé / CV: https://github.com/john-rocky · https://www.linkedin.com/in/daisuke-majima-43a637154/ Email: rockyshikoku@gmail.com

I do on-device ML on iOS. 7 years.

I maintain CoreML-Models (1,745), the de-facto iOS Core ML model zoo. 134 OSS repos covering YOLO, SAM, LaMa inpainting, on-device LLM (CoreML/MLX/llama.cpp), semantic segmentation, super-resolution, and ANE optimization. ios-llm-benchmark publishes A14–A18 inference numbers across runtimes.

Recent shipping: solo lead on a 94,000-line production iOS retail-vision app at Pebble Inc. — ARKit + LiDAR depth + YOLOv8 + CLIP + on-device OCR + multilingual voice input + multi-device backend sync. 70+ TestFlight builds in 6 months, sub-200ms recognition latency on iPhone 15 Pro, in active deployment.

Apps on the App Store under my name (apps.apple.com/developer/daisuke-majima): SnapMeasure (LiDAR measurement utility), Models Zoo (on-device AI), super2x (on-device super-resolution), and others — all on-device.

Career: Pebble Inc. (founder, Oct 2025–present), Ultralytics YOLOv5/v8 team (2024–2025, remote), Agencia Inc. Tokyo (ML engineer, 2022–2024), freelance iOS/CV from 2019.

What I'm looking for: Staff or Senior iOS Engineer / Mobile ML Engineer roles where on-device ML actually matters — Apple Silicon / ANE optimization, real-time CV, AR/LiDAR, on-device LLM, camera/imaging. Available immediately. Open to contracts as a bridge while interviewing for FT.

Japanese (native), English (business-fluent). Happy to talk about ANE quantization, depth/AR coordinate fusion, CoreML conversion for diffusion/inpainting, or what breaks at production scale when you ship iOS solo for half a year.

Senior full-stack & AI engineer (10+ yrs) — EU + US clients.

10+ years shipping production software: - CData Virtuality (AI research team) — solo-shipped a Cursor-style SQL AI copilot inside the platform; Q3 2025 release, demoed at Gartner D&A Summit 2025 - VMware Workspace ONE — identity & MDM - TestGorilla — micro-frontend platform - Octopus Energy Germany — 40K-user billing migration - Co-founder / engineering lead, Insight Draft (AI meeting SaaS, app.insightdraft.com)

Two technical case studies of recent end-to-end work (source for both is on my GitHub):

— Insight Draft: Chrome extension records Meet / Teams / Zoom without bots joining the call (tabCapture + desktopCapture). 6 LLM call types per meeting via Task.WhenAll, OpenAI Responses API with strict structured outputs, statistical-voting speaker mapping, custom Hangfire fan-out/fan-in primitive on top of Postgres atomic UPDATE...RETURNING. https://petropavlov.dev/case-studies/insight-draft

— Gramota (EU Digital Identity Wallet SDK, gramota.eu): 15 published npm packages with Sigstore provenance, ~580 mock + 31 live tests against the EU Commission reference infrastructure. 12-check verifier pipeline, per-org x509 + signed JAR, DCQL matcher, OID4VCI Draft 13/14/15 normalization. https://petropavlov.dev/case-studies/gramota

Strongest fit is AI product work where someone has to ship from prompt through to production billing, identity, and integrations — but happy to chat about anything in or adjacent to this stack.

Available immediately. DM via email above.

I just got laid off by Pie Insurance, along with 64 other people (including staff software engineers, engineering managers, product managers, and other roles). I worked across the stack at Pie, building design systems and reusable UI components on the front end, as well as APIs and event-based systems on the back end.
