Upwork/oDesk has a similar system. In these apps, the hours are only billed when you have activity in front of the computer (moving mouse and pressing keys). I suspect the purpose is the same as platforms like Upwork use it: to ensure they pay only for time you are moving the mouse or typing something. Agreed. But what I meant is not the literal "what does typing trackers find" but a higher level surprise, as this type of tracking will scare away precisely the people they want to hire: senior python developers who can work autonomously in a remote-first culture. My 2c.
