I'm a back-end engineer with 6+ years of experience living in San Francisco.

I was most recently a lead engineer at New Relic building low-latency time series streaming pipelines (Kafka/Java/Thrift) that powered real-time alerts for tens of millions of customer data streams. Before that I worked in the application space at New Relic, Nike, and a consultancy for tech startups building JSON APIs (REST/GraphQL/gRPC) and SPAs in various frameworks (Express/Rails/Golang/React/Redux, etc).

I am looking for a senior role in the San Francisco Bay Area at a company with 10+ engineers. I am most excited about roles in languages such as Rust, Scala and Haskell, as well as roles in data-intensive domains, especially those involving distributed systems.

Hello HN,

I’m a problem-solver by nature and do my best work in collaboration with others. I love exploring new technologies but feel most at home in the JavaScript ecosystem.

Recently I wrapped up an open source project called Seymour. It involved building a globally distributed active monitoring solution for API endpoints. As a co-creator and Software Engineer working on this project, I took a lead role in designing Seymour’s event-driven messaging infrastructure that ultimately resulted in a resilient and efficient means of triggering HTTP requests from any one of 22 locations around the world. My team and I gave a presentation on the final product which you can view on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzey_PglYoQ), if you’re interested.

I'm looking for full-stack opportunities that lean a bit towards the front-end. Thanks for the look!

I am a software and data engineer with eight years of experience in a range of settings. Currently I like to help small to mid-sized companies automate business workflows and improve data processing by applying modern automation paradigms. I also enjoy more technical work related to data and processes, like optimising workflows for throughput or improving memory use profiles of existing tools, and would be happy to discuss data science projects.

I have a Masters degree in mathematics and a multidisciplinary background with experience in computer science, biology, and genomics. I have spent a number of years in academia, where I managed very large amounts of compute in cluster environments, collaborated on open source software in complex problem domains, and published research papers.

I am mostly looking for unique opportunities and for short to mid-term projects. I will consider full time roles, but would prefer commitments of up to 20 hours a week arranged on a freelance / per-project basis.
