The fundamental job of our application and cloud security engineers is to make sure that the easiest way for Afterpay engineers to build applications is also the safest. Our security team is technology-driven and committed to self-service and automation.

Application security engineers work with developers to pinpoint and trace security issues, conducting vulnerability research across our products. We build modern software in Java, Python, Swift, React, and Angular. We’re investing in software security automation platforms like Semmle; at the same time, application security engineers embed directly with project teams to design and build secure software.

Cloud security engineers work to build security directly into our deployment infrastructure. We work with all the key AWS services, Terraform, K8s, Kafka, and Envoy. Cloud security engineers also protect our network perimeter and manage continuous vulnerability scanning.
