Here you mention "Remote (Americas)" but the careers page says "Remote (US)". Which is it?

#593AO Labs | Building an alternative to backpropagation | https://www.aolabs.ai/ | Berkeley, CA + remote AI systems struggle with edge cases and understanding local context despite increasing model sizes. From our research at UC Berkeley into the evolution of intelligence from simple organisms, we’ve discovered the missing link is continuous learning (deep learning is pre-trained by design). Models built with our framew…
This is not research originating from a UC Berkeley graduate, just like Lex Fridman (real name Alexei Alexandrowitsch Fedotow) is not an MIT lecturer, was not a MIT student, but is actually from Drexel U but likes to fraudulently misrepresent himself as an MIT graduate lecturer in his profile descriptions.
This AO Labs guy is not a real lab but a lone foreign guy who applied to a small grant from UC Berkeley, which gave him the one-time small grant that expired a long time ago and they have rejected him for grant renewal. Therefore a reject.
His AO Labs does not have a community of 160+ researchers from Berkeley NYU Google, or you have to wonder how incompetent are the "160" that none of them can even make a functioning simple FAQ web page.
You can also look up his videos, which are long but manage to say nothing of substance. A lot of spoken nonsense that shows his lack of understanding on how animals and organisms actually think.

#596Senior Software Engineer (Elixir)
Etherdata is looking for a talented senior software engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Elixir. Phoenix, LiveView, TypeScript, and Kubernetes are our main stack, so familiarity with these is also required. Rust is a plus.
We are a small team, currently consisting of only one developer. This position is for someone who will work closely with the team and be responsible for defining various implementation aspects of the system.
We provide business intelligence for the agro-industry, and with a recent rapid growth, many things are changing and/or are still in their early days. So there will be a fair share of architecting and DevOps (mainly Kubernetes) involved.

#597Earlier quoted context omitted.
I was curious about this position (the fact that you are upfront that you need to do a big refactor), but then the application form was very off-putting. > Tell us about yourself in 3 KPIs, with a brief explanation and examples. (A KPI is a number that evaluate performance in a specific aspect.) > Record and upload an unedited face-cam video (3 to 10 minutes) where you explain a problem you had this week and how you…
Thanks for the feedback. Indeed I don't want to get the wrong expectations & be as clear as possible. It will be a painful cleaning job at first (at least that's how refactoring is viewed by most). And yes we do have a carefully crafted process. Those questions / requests are very meaningful for us.

Ouch. Why? This has to be an HR initiative, right?
What happens for other parts of the year? No collaboration?
Why do people need to spend time together in person? Don't you interact with others via clubs, memberships, hobbies, etc., outside of work?
