Earlier quoted context omitted.

I have done face-to-face calls with every plausible candidate. I prefer it and it's not hard to do. I get a quick read on the candidate, which is handy, but more importantly, I get to sell them on the job. And I get to demonstrate that that, unlike somebody who thinks that talking to interested people is a "waste [of] time", I'm interested in the candidates as people. And will remain interested in them as people afte…

I'd also prefer that I never got ghosted after an application or a coding challange and talk to a real person, but its such an effective tool for narrowing down candidates. There are places nowadays with maybe 300 or 400 engineers getting applications from tens of thousands of people, its easier than ever to apply for a job, and you need to thin the number of prospective candidates down with some heuristic. Coding qu…

Yeah, you have to filter somehow. I wrote it up in more detail [1], but to filter out the resume spammers, I ask for a brief answer to a novel question [2]. That winnowed things down that I could talk to every plausible candidate. Maybe I'd need to tune that in the era of ChatGPT; we'll see.

nilenso | Senior Engineer | India | REMOTE in India | https://nilenso.com

We are a 9 year old boutique technology consulting firm. We care about the impact that we make in the world. As an employee-owned cooperative, we are all stakeholders in how nilenso is run—and we don't need to justify how happy employees impact the bottom line. We're currently a fully remote team of friendly people across India.

We have designed, built, and delivered complex, distributed, scalable backend systems for the web that have stood the test of time. We have written production code in Clojure/ClojureScript, Haskell, Elixir, Ruby/Rails, Python, Go, and Javascript, and are partial to a functional approach to programming. You can read about some of our work[1][2] and check out the talks[3] we've given to know more.

We're looking for senior engineers to work with us. View our full job description at https://nilenso.com/jobs/senior-developer/, or email us at careers@nilenso.com to apply!

We are keen on hearing from women and other under-represented communities.

SuperOrbital | REMOTE | #contractor | #thebest | #kubernetes | #python | #go | #howdoihashtag

We’re a (very) small band of deeply experienced distributed systems people who help our clients with the most difficult of problems on top of Kubernetes. We’re looking for contractors (1099, project based) to join the team. This is actually DEVops, meaning we sling production-grade code (Go, Python, etc) as often as YAML.

We’ve always been 100% remote (US TZs ±1 only), work four days-per-week, pay our contractors within 7 days of invoice, and if I may say so myself have an outstanding culture.

If you’re interested, read more at https://superorbital.io/careers/.

Bruinen (bruinen.co) | Growth Lead | HYBRID (ONSITE/REMOTE) | Full time | San Francisco

We're a small team building a better way to connect user context to AI (and other apps)—think Plaid for profiles.

The Growth Lead will define our GTM, and have broad autonomy and ownership over what experiments to run and strategies we pursue.
