You Need a Budget (YNAB) | Humbly Confident Senior Android Developers / Humbly Confident Full Stack Developers | Fully Remote Company | https://www.youneedabudget.com/careers/

We build “You Need a Budget,” the best budgeting software and education resources around. (Those in the know call us YNAB, which is pronounced “why-nab.”) We're bootstrapped and profitable. For more than a decade, people have been buying YNAB and then telling their friends what a difference it has made in their lives. Google us, or read some of our reviews on the app store, and you’ll see what we mean. We love building something that has a huge positive impact on people’s lives.

We strive hard to make working at YNAB a unique and fantastic experience. We were just named Fortune’s #1 Best Small Company to Work For: https://fortune.com/best-small-workplaces/you-need-a-budget/

Our job descriptions (at the bottom of https://www.youneedabudget.com/careers/ ) have the technical details of course, but here are the highlights:

- Web Backend: Ruby on Rails, Postgres (fair amount of PL/pgSQL)

- Web Frontend: Ember Single Page App, and the Shared Library it depends upon are both written in Typescript.

- Android App: The languages are Kotlin with some legacy Java.

I'm Taylor, the CTO here at YNAB. I'm biased of course, but I love it here, and am excited about having more amazing engineers join our team. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at taylor at youneedabudget dot com.

We _just_ closed down our iOS position as well. If you're just now hearing about this position, and are terribly disappointed to hear you missed the cutoff, please email charlene at youneedabudget dot com.

Edit: "Remote" means anywhere between Pacific Time Zone (UTC-8) and the Central European Time Zone (UTC+1).

Optimal | Autonomous Greenhouses | Founders Fund Backed | London - Software Engineers (all levels) - Backend, Frontend, Data - Simulation, Modelling, Optimisation and Control Engineers (all levels) - Reinforcement Learning, Machine Learning Engineers (all levels) We are a collection of engineers from Palantir, DeepMind, McLaren, MIT etc on a mission to supply safer, healthier food by deploying fully autonomous greenh…

I'm pretty happy in my current job, but this looks extremely tempting (as a EE that does more with power grid optimization). Although the optimization I do is more in dealing with LP & MIP models vs the control theory stuff I did in college. I've recently started getting into gardening and have long thought that greenhouses and hydroponics with lots of sensors would be the way forward for the world's growing populati…

You should try some hydroponics yourself! I think it will quickly fill in some of your questions and give you a concrete understanding of the challenges.

Short answer: Soil and sun do a lot, replacing them requires many inputs and sensors

Academia.edu | Full Stack Web Engineers; Product Managers; Data Analysts; Sr iOS | San Francisco, CA | Covid compliant; REMOTE OK until “return to work”.

About Academia.edu

Despite Covid-19, we had no layoffs, are private and profitable, and still growing. This is a great time to join us!

Life is short - do something that matters! Our mission is to accelerate research, which will change the world for the better.

Academia's platform has more than 150 million registered users (growing at over 150,000 per day), and has over 65 million unique visitors every month. We have over 280,000 paying premium subscribers, and our revenue has grown 50-60% YoY for the past 2-years.

Full Stack Engineers:

Must have:

* Strong Computer Science fundamentals; i.e. data structures, algorithms, system design, web architecture.

* Ability and willingness to learn and apply new languages and technologies quickly.

* Good coding and debugging habits.

* Analytical and problem solving skills.

Nice to have: We use: Ruby on Rails, React (to make our FE more responsive), RSpec and Jasmine for testing, PostgreSQL for data storage, Redis for in-memory data structures, Elasticsearch for our full-text search engine, Kafka for our publish-subscribe messaging, Neo4J for managing our email lists, all working with AWS, EC2 spot instances and autoscaling, and Ansible for configuration management.

Sr. Mobile Engineer - iOS: We are building entirely new iOS mobile apps for Academia. The codebase is brand new and done with Swift with a JSON REST API. Our mobile engineers will learn some basic backend development to enable them to create database migrations and API endpoints essentially making us “mobile full-stack”. We are taking our time to get the architecture and design patterns right, in order to build a high-quality product in lieu of taking shortcuts to rush to market.
