About me: Senior backend engineer with 20+ years of software development experience and 10+ years specializing in Go. I enjoy building scalable backend systems, APIs, developer tooling, AI-powered applications, and privacy-first products.
Strong background in distributed systems, PostgreSQL, cloud infrastructure, and modern Go development. Recently focused on LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, conversation intelligence, and AI-assisted workflows.
Looking for remote opportunities with product-focused teams where I can contribute across architecture, backend development, and technical leadership.

I build things that look like someone cared. Most engineers treat design as someone else's problem. I treat it as part of the job. Always have. My portfolio site is built in Three.js with custom Blender assets because I wanted to see if I could make a website feel like a place. Turns out you can.
That instinct runs through everything I build. Clean systems. Intentional interfaces. Products that don't just work but feel right. Dieter Rams called it "good design is as little design as possible." I think about that a lot when I'm writing a component or architecting a feature.
I've shipped mobile apps, AI pipelines, real-time streaming systems, and 3D web experiences. Enterprise scale at Toyota. Indie speed at my own studio. I've operated at both ends of that spectrum and I know what each one teaches you.
What I want next: a team that's building something new and wants an engineer who brings a point of view. Not just someone who closes tickets. Someone who asks why the ticket exists in the first place. If you care about craft as much as velocity, I want to hear from you.

SEEKING FREELANCE WORK | UX/UI & web design
I help startups with the UX/UI and web design of their products. This includes web apps, websites, landing pages, copywriting, and I can assist with frontend development where needed. My background of launching my own products and being a full stack developer helps me create practical designs that balance usability, aesthetics, development effort, and performance. I work to fixed price quotes for self-contained projects.
---
The best live example of my work is Checkbot (https://checkbot.io/), a browser extension that tests websites for SEO/speed/security problems. The entire project is my own work including coding the extension itself, UX/UI design, website design (the homepage is optimised to load in 0.7 seconds, 0.3MB data transferred), marketing, website copy, and website articles on web best practices.
