I'm a product-minded AI engineer. I thrive where taste meets execution, economics, and real world application. I work best in forward-deployed, or AI-product roles where I own a measurable workflow outcome end to end in an iterative loop: intake → diagnosis → build → deploy → measure → build again. I have a background in General Engineering, Sustainability, and Product Design and I am personally motivated by projects with a strong ethos or mission. Topics that motivate me: sustainability, economic empowerment (design for the developing world), and technological sovereignty-- exploring the connections between technology, society, and sustainability. Thanks for reading, reach out if you would like to connect!

Thanks, Alex

I have nearly 20 years of Python experience, and 10 years of AWS experience. I thrive under constraints and pressure, am open to new challenges, and love to learn. I have proven ability to take new products from concept/design to working prototype, and am ideal as an early-stage 0-to-1 engineer. I'm also interested in sharing my experience as leader of a small team.

Hey HN,

I spent the last few weeks shipping Theta Suite (https://theta42.github.io/theta-suite/)—a zero-friction, self-hosted identity and access plane.

Instead of gluing together disjointed services by hand, it unifies an OIDC provider, multi-master LDAP directory, zero-trust proxy, OpenBao secrets engine, and a directory-driven SSH jump host into a single-line install (`./setup.sh`). It automates everything down to Linux host enrollment (`PAM`/`SSSD`, `sudo`, SSH keys) and multi-site replication.

I built it with Claude and DeepSeek doing the heavy lifting on typing, while I drove architecture, threat modeling, and code sanity. Real systems engineering moving faster than it used to.

Technology is my life; you can read my backstory on my website linked above.

I've done the corporate leadership thing (VP of Software Engineering at JPMorgan, 100k+ servers) and run my own infrastructure consulting firm (Theta 42, since 2017). What I actually want now is to get back in the weeds: write code, own infrastructure, and be the engineer a team calls when something is on fire at 2 AM. I've already managed the managers; I'd rather just build the system.

Real-world leadership & mentorship: I don't just assign tasks, I grow engineers. I've built teams from scratch, run an infra firm, and spent years as a head instructor teaching Python/Django with a 90% job placement rate for graduates. I know how to unblock a team and keep execution high.

Oh, and before you ask, I want to make an impact, that is whats important for me in my next role.

Senior SDE at Valuefy, a wealth-management fintech — about three years in, promoted to Senior within a year of graduating.

I own backend delivery across three HDFC Bank programs: a domestic portfolio reporting platform, an offshore product for high-AUM clients that I run end-to-end including client communication, and an analytics backend I built from scratch. Cut one report-generation pipeline from 90 minutes to 30 with an architectural refactor, and drove the offshore platform to zero production bugs.

Also shipped ChatDOCX, a production RAG app — multi-query translation plus RAG Fusion re-ranking, OpenAI embeddings, Gemini.

What I'm after: backend or applied-AI work at product scale. Bank systems taught me to be careful with other people's money. I'd like harder problems now.

Recent B.Tech Computer Science graduate from VIT Vellore (CGPA 8.09/10), currently job hunting for software engineering roles.

I've built three end-to-end projects spanning backend, cloud, and AI integration: AvailAPI, a multi-tenant SaaS uptime monitoring platform with sub-60-second incident detection via Quartz Scheduler health checks; GooDeals, a multi-source price comparison platform using Java 21 virtual threads for parallel data aggregation, with Gemini 2.5 Flash parsing natural-language queries under a free-tier quota via an LRU cache; and VanishVault, a serverless encrypted file-sharing system on AWS S3/DynamoDB with Kafka-driven event pipelines for lifecycle alerts.

At my Yokogawa UAE internship, I automated remote simulation execution in Python (cutting server boot-up time by 60%), built a CustomTkinter frontend for an Operator Training Simulator, and built LSTM/XGBoost models on industrial sensor data that improved forecast accuracy by 18%.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and Azure AI Fundamentals certified.

What I'm after: backend or applied-AI roles where I can keep building on the Spring Boot/cloud stack and go deeper on system design.

Willing to relocate: Not at this time

I'm a seasoned generalist with deep focus in certain areas such as game development, performance engineering, systems engineering, low-level engineering and embedded software.

What I shipped this year for money: Performance improvements to HFT code (Rust & C++) for financial trading. Firmware for the hardware of an ereader (Rust+ARM).

Current side-project: Deep internals work on VS Code Web: using quilt to maintain patches against upstream, extending it with inline agent panels and custom completion providers, backed by a bespoke C# server replacing the Node.js REH with my own dedicated server - similar in spirit to Coder's Code Server or OpenVSCode-Server.

Technologies: kernel drivers, systems engineering, video games, AI, LLMs, caching, graphics, rendering, assembly languages, generative AI, heavy focus on back-end systems, and to a lesser degreee, full-stack.

   - Languages: C++, C, C#, Go, Rust, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Lua, + more.
   - Backend: node, FastAPI, Django, PostgreSQL, mySQL, RocksDB, GraphQL, SQLite.
   - Engines: DumpsterFire, UnrealEngine, Unity3D.
   - Platforms: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, SONY PS2/3/4, XBOX360/One, Switch, embedded, web
   - Frontend: Next, React, Vue, Pixi
   - DevOps/Cloud: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, VMs, Vagrant, VMWare, TeamCity, Jenkins, CI/CD
   - AI/ML: Model training/tuning, LoRa, RAGs, PyTorch, TensorFlow, SciKit, OpenCV, etc, etc, generative AI and computer vision.
   - LLM Integrations: OpenAI, Gemini, Claude plus many others, local and cloud.
