I'm surprised to see elixir in the software stack, I know TS is loosely based off of mastodon, which is a rails based project (the project is also it notorious for breaking under heavy user loads, so it's probably for the better they're moving away from it). Honestly it seems like they should have started from Pleroma from the start but I'm sure the team had their reasons.

Yes, that was unfortunately caused by time pressure and limited resources last year. We had both pleroma and mastodon versions in development and made the call to go with the more feature-complete version in October. We've been writing various replacement components with other tools (elixir, go, and sometimes even java...) to handle support functionality. At some point this will be a Ship of Theseus, although we'd like to continue to use contributed open source for parts where it makes sense, and we're going to open source some of the tools we've built as well.

Would definitely recommend Pleroma today, or without the specific internal constraints we had at the time.

Not to be rude or anything, but working in the ABQ area as well we have hired a few people who applied to Stellar Science, they have said they were just asked to submit a sample of work and never heard anything back. One or two of them my have been a bit bitter over it since they worked hard on their submissions. What exactly are you guys looking for or have your hiring standards changed or what usually leads to candidates not being hired.

This may sound like I applied and was burned, but I can assure you this wasn't the case, it just came up twice recently and a lot of people had gripes.

What flavor of entrepreneurial mindset do you mean? There is a lot of variation. For example, West Coast entrepreneurs don't tend to mesh well with the DC-area military-industrial complex. One major cause is a disconnect between creators and customers.

In my view, the essence of entrepreneurship is calculated risk taking. What kinds of risks does the company want employees to take?
