Vendia | Product and Engineering | Remote US | Full-Time | Fun-Time | https://www.vendia.net/careers

Nothing better than a three-day weekend. Perhaps you’re celebrating Labour* Day weekend looking for a new job because your current one doesn’t bring you joy. If you want a job where you’ll do cool stuff with awesome people, we’re hiring**, let’s go!

Vendia is looking for product managers and software engineers of different levels and skill sets. Check out our open roles here: https://www.vendia.net/careers Our tech stack includes all major cloud providers, Python, Rust, Node.js, Serverless, CDK, Terraform, Lambda, GraphQL, Next.js, React, TypeScript, and more!

What do we do at Vendia? Real-time data. Multi-cloud. Serverless blockchains and ledgers and access controls. We’re also kind, and a little quirky. We’re a Venn diagram of all of it. (Venn diagram… Vendia… you get it.)

We were founded by Dr. Tim Wagner and Shruthi Rao - two of the amazing people you would get to work with if you join us. Apply already! https://www.vendia.net/careers

*I’m Canadian, and your spell check needs to be adjusted for diversity.

**We’re hiring kind, smart people. Brilliant but not kind? No need to apply.

Roblox is still hiring! Feel free to reach out (or reply here with contact info) if you'd be interested in working on the developer/creator-facing side of the company. We do ML/NLP, APIs, cloud services, real-time collaboration tools, and more.

Do you hire remotely in Canada?

Good question! Not sure. I can find out for you on Tuesday (feel free to email me at rfrankel@roblox.com to remind me). We do hire senior ICs remotely in the US (IC5+, ~=L6+ in Google terms); if we do hire remotely in Canada, it is probably with a similar bar. And we have a Vancouver office, if you happen to be in that part of the country.

Your certificate is broken, clicked on the click but decided not to bother after the five warnings from Safari and the need to unlock the system security settings to set an exception.

Is your date set correctly on your computer ? I just double checked kozubik.com SSL cert and it expires in 7 days (it is an acme.sh generated certificate, etc.). Or is Safari complaining about this cert chain ? Genuinely curious ...

Not the person you're responding to, but it appears broken on Chrome and Safari on macOS (Firefox is fine) with a correctly set date. On further inspection it looks like there's a problem with the R3 certificate being expired. After a little Googling and I found this: https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/help-thread-for-dst-root...

Hopefully that helps!

> Be sure the dev separates out the messages from ordering. Can you explain? I'm not sure what you mean by this.

The temptation is to have the message date and/or ranking number in the message table. This is fine and good. The next temptation is to have the index on that date or (date, rank) and use that for displaying the list of messages. This is bad. For the list of threads (messages without a parent) you want to know which to show… but there are a lot of calculations that would make this inefficient. Is it a root message? I…

Why not an index on created for speeding up the "new" sort?

What indexes should you create? One for each sort you have?

(I'm just playing around cloning Reddit and running into all sorts of performance problems. Mostly due to celery taking all my memory)
