Are there alternatives to the "take home exercise"? I've had several bad experiences with those where I waste dozens of hours of my own time only to be rejected or have to decline the offer shortly afterwards. So now I pretty much don't apply anywhere that uses take home projects in the interview process.

Some kindness could do you some good, if he asked it is because he didn’t get it, maybe English is not his first language or whatever it is, he didn’t unrestrained, so he asked. you don’t need to be an asshole. English is not my first language and occasionally I have to look for definitions.

ROS2 is also not ROS. I believe they fixed some of the mistakes. I'm not sure about catkin though, it's the worst build system I've experienced. And it sure likes to integrate itself everywhere, making it really hard to move away from it.
The only big change which isn't just churn is changing the messaging system to DDS. My problems with ROS1 aren't related to the implementation details of the messaging system. It's the build system, the difficulty of adding tests, the difficulty of writing deterministic systems with their messages being inserted in the middle of everything, needing to put everything through their messages, and in the end the fact tha…

I'm anti-framework in general though. I think it's better to get a good build system and a good messaging library and do your own stuff.

Are most jobs on-site? I tried applied to Snowflake for the Senior Frontend position but was rejected a few days later.
Most of our engineering jobs are hybrid/on-site around our engineering hubs, mostly in San Mateo. It's team and background specific though; we have engineering teams across Europe and North America, but that just depends on what team you're going into. (I'm not certain where most of the frontend team are)

Stack is Vue.js with mostly django in the back end although pyramid/sqlalchemy is being introduced. Plenty of third party api integration. Gitlab, unit tests, and continuous integration are standard.
Our devops stack includes Ansible and Terraform, and we operate across the major cloud providers, as well as a few smaller players! Mature and international dev team with a few PhD’s included.
Our QA Automation stack is built in Selenium in Java, and we're exploring Playwright as a complementary technology. Understanding of GIT, CI/CD pipelines debugging issues related to them will be key. Experience with TestNG, Maven or Gradle welcome!
