Hello,

I'm a junior backend engineer, with excellent social/relational skills. My technical chops probably aren't as good as those of more experienced developers, although I'm good enough for my current job, and I do work on improving daily. I'd like to work remotely so as to be able to travel more, and hopeful learn a different set of skills than the one I'm currently learning at my current job in a large web hosting and cloud computing company. I'm currently trying to get better a using Rust and Elixir.

Hey! I’m AJ, a seasoned software engineering leader with a robust background in developing and managing high-performing engineering teams as well as delivering longterm solutions. Some key highlights include:
  * Orchestrating a plan at a Series B startup to expand the engineering department from 25 to over 80 employees as the company size doubled and two more rounds were raised totaling $143 million
  * Ensuring that 50% of my 11 direct reports achieved promotions, while maintaining 0% turnover for two years (2021-2023)
  * Championing greenfield project launches, contributing to an additional $60 million in revenue
  * Won a global hackathon put on by the US State Department to help deter the use of illegal animal products and unethical farming practices during online shopping
Although I’m looking for the right, longterm fit, I’m open to contract, frational CTO, and consulting work. I can do anything from coming in to fix a bunch of legacy Angular code to helping build a resilient engineering culture that will grow with your business

I am a data scientist with 3 years of experience in consulting. I am an excellent communicator and very much a people-person, and thrive in building rapport with stakeholders and explaining those technical concepts to non technical audiences. I also have over 8 years of non-commercial management and leadership experience.

I am largely looking for remote work, though I'm open to working in office in London or even relocating if required. My ideal role would be people-focused, through either managing people or managing projects, though I am of course open to more traditional data science / analyst roles too.

I am a recent graduate with a Master's in Computer Science from University of Massachusetts Amherst, specializing in NLP and ML. I've had the privilege to work as a Graduate Student Researcher at Amazon Alexa and as an NLP Intern at Samsung Research America. My academic engagement extended to the University's BioNLP Lab, where I contributed to research in the NLP field. In the industry, I honed my software engineering skills during my tenure as a Software Engineer.

My work experience has been marked by extensive work with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as BERT, T5, and GPT-3. I've applied these models to various text summarization, generation, and classification tasks, gaining proficiency in leveraging the power of LLMs for real-world applications. Currently, as an ML Intern at a startup, I lead the development of a feature that harnesses advanced prompt engineering techniques to enhance the capabilities of ChatGPT.

I am actively seeking a full-time role in the NLP/ML/Data Science field, and would love to hear from you!

Available for part-time or full-time contract work, preferably on a long-term basis, but I'm also available for smaller projects.

I am very flexible with my working hours (mostly working with clients from USA). I am a backend developer with more than 9 years of professional experience mostly in the C# .NET stack. I don't shy away from the DevOps and DBA parts of the project either.

I also work through Toptal. My CV is available on my toptal profile and my website.

My rate is $90/hour.
