I wonder how much more it would have gone down if Chile had a more equitable economic system.

Hasn't Chile done much better than its Latin American peers? I suppose it would be unfair to mention Venezuela, but how about Brazil?

Chile is much better when compared to Brazil in terms of equality. Brazil is ranked 8 most unequal (tied with Botsuwana) whereas Chile holds the 26th position in the GINI index [1].

We can expect Chile to drop positions since its economy is going downhill creating massive unemployment. Inequality will increase as people from lower middle class will move into poverty as we've seen in Brazil since 2015.
