Hack Club | Remote in USA | Contract | https://hackclub.com and https://github.com/hackclub

I run Hack Club, which is a nonprofit that helps high schoolers start programming clubs at their schools. We open source almost everything we do at https://github.com/hackclub/. You can read a little about a summer program we ran a couple months ago here: https://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/teens-code-while-traveli....

I'm trying to find a Rails contractor who has a really good product eye to contribute to Hack Club Bank, which is a financial tool we run to help Hack Clubs and hackathons manage their finances and become nonprofits. https://hackclub.com/bank/ is the marketing page for it and https://medium.com/hackclub/hack-club-bank-is-now-live-for-e... has some more background on the product.

In this role, you'd be shipping features that require a combination of frontend and backend work. Our backend is pretty standard Ruby on Rails and our frontend is normal JavaScript with pages rendered by the backend. We have a small team of Hack Clubbers aged 13-17 that contribute to the product, and you'd also be serving as a mentor to them to scope out features, break them down into issues, and working with them through code reviews to get their code merged.

My hope is to open source Hack Club Bank in the future, so hopefully you'd be able to contribute to that as well.

If you're reading this and not currently looking for work, I would really appreciate any suggestions for people to reach out to, or profiles of anyone in the Rails community that you're inspired by that I could look into.

If you're interested in the role or have any suggestions, please email me at zach (at) hackclub.com. If you're interested in the role, please include your GitHub or links to any open source projects you've built or contributed to.

Are you looking for an embedded software/firmware intern?

Sure! Our internship program for summer 2022 is open now. We have a rather generic intern req open here: https://jobs.lever.co/ursamajortech/a3637ef2-244a-4239-ae6a-...

A lot of those requirements wouldn't apply to you, but note this line:

> This internship could be for any of our Engineering teams: Analysis, Design, Propulsion Development, Avionics, Turbomachinery, Test, etc.

Embedded software/firmware would fit under Avionics.
