Can one apply from Africa (Nigeria)?

Yes. However, hiring non-EU/EEA candidates in Switzerland takes a lot of work. And we will only go through this process if the candidate is a perfect match.

Railway | engineering | Remote | https://railway.app/careers Tired of trying to beat kube into shape? Does writing YAML to ship code fill you with utter dread? Dream of a future where deploying software is simple, and you don't need an army of infrastructure engineers to build that perfect janky bash script™ to make life easy? We're Railway, and we think infrastructure can be better. So far we've built out a platform…

You need a link, lots of railways are hiring.

I see downvotes, but obviously Railway edited their post to add a link. And yes, Googling for 'railway jobs' or even 'railway dev jobs', when they didn't list a location, and didn't list an url, can be challenging.

My first Google attempt literally showed actual train/railway companies hiring devs.

Railway: did you downvote me, for helping you?

What's the expected compensation? at least a starting point?

As a rule of thumb - if the compensation is not stated, then it's below average or very much below what you'd expect. If they want to attract talent then they share it. The company I work for pays way over 'market rate' and we can use shovel to dig through talented applicants.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

Just as a little friendly feedback, having a dedicated language picker landing page must certainly be hurting any goal you have for your website, unless I suppose that goal is to determine the language your visitors (who don't just bounce) are speaking. Surely there's a better pattern that doesn't add an immediate barrier to visitors before you get to introduce your value, and lets people navigate to the site immedia…

Hi Gabriel! Thanks for the feedback. Those are all good points. We experimented with several approaches to this over the years and this one sucked the least. Our constraints are: 1) Keep things simple and easy to test and maintain. 2) Follow search engine recommendations (below) as much as we can. 3) Only 30% of our visitors select the English language. We have a very multilingual user base. https://developers.google…

The canonical approach would be honoring the language requested by the user/browser:
