Openverse (previously Creative Commons Search) is a search engine that allows openly licensed and public domain works to be discovered and used by everyone. We currently index over 500 million Creative Commons licensed images and intend to add audio and video support. The project joined WordPress.org this year and continues to grow in users and the number of indexed items. All of our code is open source and we welcome community contribution.

You’ll be a strong fit if you like to be involved with product architecture, have a strong design touch, and can work productively on our stack - Django/Django Rest Framework/Vue.js/PostgreSQL in AWS. You’ll be working with other remote engineers, myself and our CEO directly. We are using the latest and greatest in open source, and will continue to. Our full-stack app streamlines business procurement and supplier communication and aggregates some really interesting financial data that will be projected into vector space, much like Word2vec.

Core requirements and responsibilities:

- Strong design instinct

- Frontend and backend productivity with Django/DRF/Vue.js/PostgreSQL

- Deployment and development of DevOps initiatives (CI/CD pipeline, Dokku, and AWS deployments)

- Taking ideas, Figma designs, or customer feedback and turning them into solid features with a strong UX, i.e. Owning features

Other tech you might touch - DevOps (AWS), PostGIS, Celery, Redis, TailwindCSS, Clojure.

Our products are extremely data driven, so we are looking for people that are interested in data pipelines and analytics.
