Hi! I'm Ruby, an operations partner and executive assistant who enjoys helping neurodivergent people build systems that actually work for their brains.
I help streamline workflows, manage projects, handle the administrative noise, and provide support so clients can focus on the work they're most passionate about. Think of me as a second brain for the operational side of your work and personal life.
If that sounds useful, I'd be happy to chat.

#394My approach to hardware is heavily informed by my background in software engineering. With a Master’s in Instrumentation and professional experience developing .NET-based laboratory management systems, I bring rigorous software architecture practices to hardware design. I actively contribute to open-source hardware infrastructure—including writing automation scripts to optimize IHP Open PDK workflows in KLayout—and I leverage a broad stack (Python, Ruby, C++, and SPICE) to eliminate bottlenecks across the design cycle. From bare-metal microcontroller programming to developing cross-platform applications and executing complex silicon layouts, I build robust systems from the ground up.

My 16-year history is mostly FP front-end which no one is doing anymore; I pivoted to going deep into Nix about 3½ years ago. Nix is an amazing technology for getting reliable software, but so few teams have anyone that really understands it leading to bad experiences & gnarly code. I’ve been self-hosting Nix setups in my home cluster (servers & laptops for the family)—much if it required building NixOS modules & packaging all the things I wanted to see where I got to learn a lot about Linux + systemd. For fun, I recently picked up an ESP32 dev kit & am trying to get its toolchain working with `pkgsCross` (cross-compilation) in Nix (planning to try out Mirth which compiles to C99). I would prefer to shift into a more DevOps role or something about tooling/building the software or really just software that isn’t for the web or written in a scripting language at this point. Ideally it would be something that wasn’t full-time as well so I can tend to family matters. As I am in Asia, I can also look after machines when the West is asleep, tho my sleep schedule looks closer to European.Re: Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (July 2026)

About: I am a Generative AI Engineer who also happens to be pretty handy across the full stack. Most of my recent work has been building RAG pipelines, AI agents, and natural language search — using LangChain, LangGraph, and vector databases like Pinecone and ChromaDB — with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini APIs under the hood. I care deeply about shipping GenAI features that hold up beyond the demo stage.
Beyond GenAI, I am working on the full stack — React/TypeScript on the frontend, Node.js or ASP.NET Core APIs on the backend, and AWS/Azure for infra. I like owning things end-to-end and building software that's simple and reliable.
Technologies:
• Generative AI: LLMs, LangChain, LangGraph, Agentic RAG, Prompt Engineering, Vector DB (Pinecone, ChromaDB, FAISS), Embeddings, Streamlit
• AI/ML Stack: Python, NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebooks
• Frontend: React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), Redux, React Query, D3.js, Chart.js, MUI, Tailwind CSS
• Backend: Node.js, Express, C#, ASP.NET Core, Web API, GraphQL, LINQ, Entity Framework
• Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, Docker, Jenkins, GitHub Actions
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, SQL Server, AWS RDS, T-SQL
• Security & Auth: JWT, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, Keycloak, ADFS
