Symphony.fr is a platform that gathers all of the community's recipes, from the popular and the trendy to the niche and those of your friends. You can order any recipe, improve it and iterate, or you can create new ones from scratch, manually or with the help of AIs and algorithms (to optimize for nutritional and gustative constraints, notably). Think of it as programmable food with a Darwinist environment to bring out the most remarkable creations.

We are currently shipping on a weekly basis across the whole of France, but will soon have 24/7 collection points around Europe and beyond. Join the revolution :-).

  Role:

  - You will join a team of 5 developers as a full-stack developer
  - You will then progressively be given the responsibility of managing the issues, which implies:
    - understanding the needs
    - discussing the solution with UI/UX, marketing and others
    - detailing the technical specifications
    - guiding and helping the team through the implementation
    - reviewing the feature and handling merge and deployment

  Requirements:

  - You have worked on large Mongo/Node/React projects
  - You have strong experience in both back-end and client-side
  - You have broad knowledge of how computers, networks, databases and ML/AI work
  - You have common sense, understand UX, and like taking initiatives

SimplePay | Kotlin / Java Developers | UTC+0 to UTC+8 | REMOTE

SimplePay is a profitable, developer-owned online payroll software company, with solid growth. Our software lets 28,000 (and counting!) small business owners (and their accountants) run their South African, Ireland, Singapore and Hong Kong payrolls without headaches, so they can focus on the challenge of building their businesses. We're also developing new product lines - for example, we're doing a new time tracking and staff scheduling system.

We've decided to add Kotlin to our stack for server-side development. Experienced Java developers who want to get into Kotlin are also welcome to apply. As much as I enjoy Ruby on Rails (and it's definitely helped us succeed), refactoring is becoming more painful the larger our code base becomes (using Sorbet helps, but can only take us so far). We intend to use Kotlin for the new products we're launching as well as to rewrite selected components of our existing system where it makes sense. I haven't coded in a statically typed language in years, but I've been writing Kotlin lately, and it feels surprisingly productive.

We haven't decided on a web framework yet. I don't mind Spring Boot, but investigating lighter weight alternatives would be great too (you can tell I have many battle scars from dealing with framework upgrades). We use PostgreSQL as our DB server. On the front-end, we mainly render plain HTML, but use Vue.js on the pages that need more interactivity - this role is more focused on the back-end, but front-end skills are welcome too. As you can see from our no-nonsense stack, we prefer to keep things simple with robust, proven technologies, so we can focus on solving client issues.

Our development team was already mostly remote pre-pandemic. We have a very supportive culture, and are continuously putting a lot of thought into ensuring remote work is happy work.

We’re a startup reimagining the way that veterinarians use technology, impacting every aspect of patient care from the exam room to managing client communications and clinical analytics. As part of our team, you’ll be designing the future of what veterinary technology should and can be, and you’ll be joining a founding team out of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory building a research platform for evidence-based veterinary medicine.

We’re growing quickly and looking for a full stack engineer to join the team to help bring veterinarians’ dreams into fruition. Your day to day work will consist of learning and understanding veterinarians' and veterinary staff needs and bringing them into reality from the front-end to the backend. To do this, you’ll be working at every stage of patient care from the exam room to back-end analytics.

Some examples of what your weeks may look like: creating an emergency room clinical census to monitor patients and alert staff in real-time, designing the interface and algorithms for intelligent immunization reminders, and building a secure messaging platform for client and doctor communications.

We're looking for someone who will take ownership over the full pipeline of their work in a team-centered atmosphere that will work and talk directly with the users every day. You'll want to take pride in talking with clients to understand their needs, brainstorm with the clients to find the ideal solution, implement the back-end architecture at scale, design beautiful and intuitive interfaces on the front-end, and continually iterate based on client feedback.

This specific role will be very hands-on: you'll work closely with our users to understand their unique needs and build solutions for them to solve real problems in the field. It's half-part engineering, half-part problem solving.

Our backend is a GraphQL Phoenix/Absinthe application written in Elixir, our front end is a React SPA using the Apollo GraphQL framework, our primary database is PostgreSQL, and it all runs on Google Cloud via Kubernetes.

Experience with these technologies will be a great bonus (especially Elixir, React, and GraphQL), but the most important experience is in understanding users’ problems and putting together end-to-end solutions. Experience in healthcare technology is also a boon, but not at all required. Keen attention to detail and design is a must.
