I just moved out to San Francisco and am looking for a data scientist position locally or remote. By training I'm a PhD computational physicist, but have been working as a data science consultant for the past year and a half+. I am a generalist, with a focus on analysis and simulations, but have experience across the whole spectrum of data science (i.e. data acquisition, cleaning, modeling, machine learning, evaluation, etc.). I'm looking to join a team of really smart people working on something interesting. I love learning new stuff and hearing about what people are working on.

I am tired of being kicked around by doing freelance jobs by unappreciative people who do not understand their own products. I would like to work with a group of people who are doing interesting work where my time and work can be appreciated and critiqued by. I graduated from Bennington College last year in 2013 where I built a social network for the campus. Since then I have done some odd programming jobs including working alongside a blackhat SEO person and a digital artist. I like to be challenged and adding new technologies to my arsenal.

I've been working freelance jobs for a bit and I'm looking for a project to settle down on for some time. I'd really like a team teach and learn from. I spent a year working remotely for a start-up using Python, Django, and Solr and would like to do more of the same.

I'd prefer to use functional languages such as Haskell and Clojure, but my main skills are in Python and I'm open to Python positions.
