Voltus | Frontend/Backend/Data/SRE/Systems | Engineering Managers |Remote | Full-Time

We are a team of engineers and energy experts working on getting our customers paid for using less energy. Our customers are energy consumers (factories, skyscrapers, warehouses, steel mills...) who will commit to curtailing their demand on a signal from us. We aggregate those "curtailable" buildings into virtual power plants that we sell to utilities and other buyers in wholesale energy markets, splitting the revenue with our customers. Our virtual power plants are cleaner and cheaper than the coal and oil plants they replace.

Along the way, we have to solve some complex problems:

  - trade energy in an international patchwork of wholesale power markets
  - convince a wide variety of factory supervisors and building managers to cease their operations when they would rather not
  - make hundreds of commercial and industrial buildings behave like a single, reliable generator in every way
We're currently hiring for a wide variety of roles--check our posts for more info. https://www.voltus.co/join-us

Oportun | Remote US/MX | Senior/Staff Site Reliability Engineers

My team is looking for hybrid engineers who are comfortable with both infrastructure and code to support a massive modernization of our tech stack and processes. But more than good tech, we need good listeners: technical leads who can bridge the gaps between product, engineering, and operations to create solutions that meet real needs and make us more effective as a whole organization, not just modern for the sake of modern.

Bonus points if you’ve read the Google SRE books.

Our tech stack is Java/Groovy, a rapidly increasing amount of Kotlin, some Python, Angular+TypeScript, AWS, Ansible, Terraform, EKS/K8s, MySQL/MariaDB+Galera, MongoDB, ScyllaDB.

Senior: https://careers-oportun.icims.com/jobs/11467/sr.-site-reliab... Staff: https://careers-oportun.icims.com/jobs/11260/staff-devops-en...

There are plenty of SWE roles open too, not just SRE, so look at Oportun.com/careers even if you don’t want to join my team. :)

And tell the recruiter you came through HN.

York Space Systems | Denver, CO USA or Remote (US Only)

We’re working with space lasers, going to the moon, rendezvousing with other spacecraft, and more. As a company, we’re designing and manufacturing satellites at a rapid pace – our average mission goes from concept to launch in 1-2 years. Our small team writes all the onboard software as well as the ground software which controls and monitors them, but you don’t need a physics degree or aerospace experience to work here! We’re looking for smart people who would love to work in the space industry, especially those who never thought they’d be qualified for a space job or didn’t want to work for a giant aerospace corporation or government agency.

https://www.yorkspacesystems.com/gallery/

We have openings on flight software (embedded C, Linux and RTEMS), and ground software (C#/.NET 5 on Linux, TypeScript/React), and site reliability engineering (Azure and on-prem). We’re looking for:

  - Senior/Lead Web Software Developer
  - Senior/Lead Embedded Software Developer
  - Site Reliability Engineer
  - Product Designer
  - Product Manager
  - Director of Software
We also have many non-software roles!
