ABN AMRO | Amsterdam, Netherlands | Senior AI Specialist | ONSITE

We're hiring! ABN AMRO is a top 3 Dutch bank and we are expanding the AI team within our central innovation department. Before you dismiss this with “yuck, a bank”, hear me out :)

1. We’re a small (20 people) team and work on some of the toughest AI challenges in the bank.

2. We’re part of the innovation department, which means we have more freedom to experiment than the typical team at a corporate. (However, we love results, so this is not an R&D job)

3. Everybody in our team codes. We offer mentoring opportunities by some very experienced people as well.

4. High-pace project based work. We typically set up mixed project teams with business lines to deliver a use case in 2-6 months. Our cases range from detecting fraud to unsupervised chat suggestions to document classification and information retrieval.

5. Some of our projects are pretty close to the state of the art. E.g. our unsupervised chat support is based on a dual-BERT encoder to help our chat agents respond faster and more accurately.

6. We also work with our internal start-ups to deliver new AI driven business models.

7. Opportunities for flexible arrangements (eg 4 vs 5 days a week, multi-month sabbatical after >1 yr employment, and of course remote working opportunities (eg WFH 2-3 days per week)

We are looking for people with broad experience across ML, entrepreneurship and business topics. In other words: Generalists. Also come and talk to us if you have experience in building infrastructure for data exploration and deploying models to production.

Reach out to the email in my profile for more information. Note: Please mention HN in the e-mail. We require a valid work permit for the EU.

Blackbird Studios | Sr Fullstack Developer | Remote within US only | Contract to hire

Blackbird is a San Francisco based digital software studio that specializes in a Human Centered “Build, Measure, Learn” approach to launching totally new, high-impact software products for a wide variety of public and private sector clients, from early stage startups to Fortune 50 companies. We don’t do marketing sites! We build complex, cool, interactive fullstack web and mobile applications that are fun to build, challenging, and that people use every day. We work directly with brands or through partnerships with some of the top design studios in the world (like IDEO).

Blackbird is very different from most other software studios. We operate in very collaborative and strategic relationships with our clients and partners which gives us a uniquely strategic seat at the table and the opportunity to regularly deep dive into a new interesting understanding of our client's business, then build, launch, and evolve new software products from the ground up.

Our teams include CTO consulting, Software Development, UX/UI, training and capabilities building, and "Build, Measure, Learn" Product Management. We work with large and small companies/startups on projects ranging from 2-12 months with 2-7 people on each project. We build full stack web, mobile, IoT, physical installations, etc. Our favorite stack is React, React Native, GraphQL, and Rails. We also use a wide range of other tech as needed since we face a pretty diverse set of challenges. Recent and upcoming examples: Flutter, .Net, Drupal, Elixir/Phoenix, Swift, and Kotlin.

We are looking for people who are excited about building great software products, who are great teammates, and who are passionate about continuously refining best practices for creating successful digital products. Experience in dev team leadership, new product development, collaboration with business and design stakeholders, and consulting experience are not required but are all huge plusses.

We are a remote-first company but with very active collaboration on video and Slack, plus occasional travel to San Francisco and other locations is part of the job for project kickoffs and other critical collaboration phases or meetings.

Interested? We want to hear from you! Please send resume, Github, or LinkedIn to jobs@blackbird.us. I am a founder so ask me anything! If there are other aspects of what we do that interest you definitely still hit me up!
