Im a Junior at NYU studying CS + Philosophy. I am open to internships and freelance work which I would charge minimally for. I am an entrepreneur at heart with the humbling experience of being a founder. I am eager to get my hands dirty and work on an impactful project. I am interested in full stack product driven engineering.

Hi, I’m Cameron. I’ve been programming for my own projects for 12 years, and professionally for four. I’m comfortable and experienced in teaching myself whatever I need to solve the problem in front of me, and a polyglot who’s tinkered with Python, Lua and a little Haskell and Racket in addition to the languages I’ve worked with in the past.

Previously worked as a backend developer for two years on Bedful, a SaaS booking management system for campsites, and then for about one year as a full-stack developer at Hipcamp (Airbnb for camping) after that company was acquired.

I like having interesting problems to work on, whether that be some technical optimization or translating a thorny business context into software. Looking for an IC position where I get to do that, ideally surrounded by other competent and curious people and a culture that values learning and growth.

Also open to freelance and contract work.

I can't really summarize myself as an "X engineer". My career path has not been very orthodox, but it centers primarily on compute-heavy software systems, generally high throughput and usually low latency. I have written code for desktop applications, a real-time processing pipeline, backend services, and batch processing jobs. My production code has used varying combinations of C, C++, Java, Scala, and various DSLs; I have also used Python heavily for data analysis and tooling. Non-professionally, I use Python quite a bit for data analysis and tools. I'm currently learning Go, and re-learning modern C++.

I have been working in ML and NLP for nearly 11 years, primarily on productionizing models and building applications around them. My most recent stint is four years with Twitter, but that will officially end in a couple days. Here I've been able to build and optimize a variety of ML-based services used by several teams within Twitter as part of their own services. Note, though, that I am not a modeller. I know enough ML and NLP to understand how the systems should work and how the model integrates into it, but not enough to effectively build the models. Recently, though, I have started learning about the training and architecture of large language models, and I'm experimenting with training and evaluating smaller language models.

From looking at job reqs I'm interested in, it seems my biggest weakness right now is limited experience with cloud platforms. My only professional experience is at Twitter where I used some features of GCP in a non-production capacity (primarily BigQuery. The services I built and maintained ran in Twitter's datacenters, where we used Mesos + Aurora as an IaaS, Twitter-wrapped Memcached and Redis clusters, and various data stores for persistence. However, I am interested in developing production-level knowledge of public cloud systems. I have used Azure for some small personal projects, I'm currently learning the basics of setting up Kubernetes clusters on GCP, and I've adopted Docker for managing my personal server.

I'm looking to continue doing backend or infrastructure work on high-throughput systems, such as the type of ML infrastructure work I was doing at Twitter or the high-performance computing type work I did at Raytheon. While I have done some work in building web applications and can work on them when necessary, I don't really want to become a full-stack engineer.

Technologies: Marketing & Go to Market / Business Ops & Strategy

Résumé/CV: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dnsroot/

Hey folks, I'm looking for a new mission to go on.

Started my career at DeviantART building the community. I was the head of devrel and strategy at DigitalOcean from 10 to 200 employees, and later worked on smart cities. Industry agnostic, however, most of my experience is in selling software (developer tools/GovTech). I'm curious to learn more about venture capital and am always happy to work around helping founders.

I'm well versed in go-to-market, marketing and strategy. I'm also very open to exploring something along the lines of a Chief of Staff/Biz Ops.

Although the company size doesn't particularly matter to me: I enjoy early-stage startups. I love building! :)

I'm happy to relocate for the right opportunity, although remote would be ideal. Canada, the USA, or South Korea are all possibilities. Canada, UK, and South Korea would not require any visas as I'm legally allowed to work in these countries already.

Thanks!
