Looking for security engineer roles. For the past 5 years I have been building security tooling that internal teams can make use of. I work closely with other teams to help improve the security posture of their apps. I help write documentation and host department wide presentations to educate others about web app security and steps they can take to make apps more secure. I took on the responsibility of managing our H1 Bug Bounty Program which previously was failing SLA targets by 10+ months and managed to bring it down to days. I have helped mentor interns and junior developer and also been active in conducting pair programming interviews for future candidates. What you get from me is a go-getter, self-motivated individual. I am always looking to improve not only myself but also my work.

I have a YOE working as a Founding Software Engineer at the startup company mfg.parts. I was the Frontend team lead developing the vast majority of our web application. I am a seasoned C++ developer with 23 years of experience in the industry. I have experience in Desktop, Embedded and Mobile development. I also did some back-end work and even some reverse engineering, though that was a while ago. I also have some ML experience (PyTorch) - also a while ago, but not that much. Most recently I've doing 3D graphics (simulation and later maps). My Linear Algebra is quite decent - I use it regularly.

My preferred next career move is independent contracting. 6-12 months contracts ideally. I will also consider permanent fully remote positions, but only quite senior ones - Staff Engineer / Architect level.

I've been fully remote since 2018 and I intend to keep it that way.

Experience: 8+ years

I'm a full-stack engineer with 8+ years of experience building and scaling production systems — from early-stage startups to global enterprises with 150,000+ employees.

Most recently, I was a Senior Software Engineer at Flywheel Digital, where I helped lead backend development on Commerce Cloud, integrating data pipelines and services for Fortune 500 partners like Amazon, Walmart, and Target. Prior to that, I helped grow a seed-stage startup (WellCaddie) to a $15M+ valuation and run a consultancy focused on bespoke web applications.

I specialize in Laravel and TypeScript, with deep experience in the full product lifecycle, large-scale refactors, and reducing technical debt in complex legacy codebases.

Looking for: Full-time remote roles focused on Laravel, TypeScript, or other full-stack engineering. Particularly interested in teams modernizing legacy systems or scaling mature products.

Hi I'm Thomas. I make teams easier, often creating fixes for customer/developer pain points (really good at this). Although I've not had the title of "Lead" to date, I've filled that role as advisor to peers, user story generator, and representative for requirement meetings with stakeholders. I'm ready to lead a gangbuster team!

I view the agreement between stakeholder and developer as one which can be a beautiful moment of pure communication, and that idea leads me to both develop to specifications and define requirements in user stories with precision.

A passion and thrill of mine is orchestrating/comprehending complex code bases and noting/implementing fixes and optimizations to them. I strive to develop around the highest impact areas so that the most taxing and critical functions can run without error. I also love maps, rockets, organizing data and BYU sports. GO Cougs!
