#284We are hiring software engineers who enjoy solving important real-world problems and working close to hardware; who learn new domains quickly and prefer practical solutions over over-engineered systems or unnecessary complexity. You’ll work on the projects best suited for you. Projects range widely, and include:
Scientific tools
Automation & robotics (Linux & ROS level)
Embedded C/C++ (typically owned by dedicated firmware engineers, but software engineers are welcome to learn!)
Linux, CUDA, Server engineering for our AI safety, security, and verification work
Custom simulation software (usually python)
Data analysis pipelines (python)
Organisational tooling (Typescript, react, postgres, etc.)
Structure: Small teams of software, mechanical, electronics, and firmware engineers build end-to-end systems, typically shipping within a few months.

#285Virtasant is both a cloud optimization company (roles available for that area too!) and a staffing agency for some of our clients - they trust us to find the best candidates to join their teams.
For this role, you can own and scale a modern healthcare data platform — building core services, automation, and observability that power real-world patient and provider outcomes, fully remote, with long-term impact.
Long-term, no-end-date 1099 contract. US citizens or Green Card holders only, sadly (legal reasons).
5 yoe (5 of which building production-grade data or platform services), Python, SQL, AWS, dbt, Snowflake (or BigQuery or Redshift), Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake (or Iceberg or Hudi), Airflow, CI/CD, Docker.

#288We're an AI agent that automates pricing and promotions for short-term rental operators on Booking.com and Airbnb. Bootstrapped to real revenue, recently funded, small team.
Pitch: we sit on Booking.com private API data, Airbnb channel data, and scraped competitive pricing across thousands of properties.
Our agent is rules-based where it should be data-driven. You'd be the founding ML/data hire fixing exactly that.
You're a fit if you:
* Ship clean production Python in a Django codebase, not just notebooks
* Think in experiments and know correlation from causation (time series a plus)
* Use frontier AI coding tools/agents to ship fast
* Have startup experience and thrive in ambiguity
Stack: Python, pandas, scikit-learn, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Django, time series, causal inference, AI agents.

It happens to candidates! Let's not forget what we have to go through, 6 or 7-stage interview processes, that requires a lot of preparation, as if we don't deserve the time to have a life too. Fake jobs, scammers, dodgy "take-home tests" containing malicious packages, cancelled interviews on the day, cancellation of the role in the middle of the hiring process, change of hiring plans, requests to record videos before…
Companies that have a 7 round interview process are not serious in hiring in general. Sure if some super-genius comes along. But no, it's just a performance. The director can claim they're behind on projects because they don't have enough staff, but everyone they interview isn't qualified (because the interviews are impossible and nearly everyone trips up) I started seeing this pattern recently. The companies that ar…
