Full Time and Part Time roles Distark is hiring, an edutainment brand building learning videos for Education. Our small, passionate team creates animated shows and learning tools that help kids (ages 3-9) fall in love with curiosity and real-world learning. In the US it is illegal to discriminate against a job seeker based on parental status - aka it is illegal to require job seekers to have children.

depends on how the law is written. the primary purpose is to protect parents, and in some jurisdictions favoring parents may actually be welcome exactly because of that.

either way, it should not be illegal to require parenting experience though. if you can demonstrate that experience without having children of your own (because of much younger siblings, fostering, or working as a caregiver or teacher maybe) then maybe you qualify.

Class Central | Developer Education Specialist (Course Guide Author) | Remote (Global) | Full-time | We’re the most popular search engine for online courses, and we’re hiring a deeply technical writer-researcher to help learners master tech skills by testing advanced courses and publishing “best course” guides.

You’ll: research, test, and evaluate courses (e.g., LangChain, DevSecOps, Nginx, pen-testing) and write clear, actionable guides with charts/images/layouts.

You are: a curious polyglot learner and clear writer, fluent with the command line, and comfortable driving projects in a remote team.

How we work: full-time, remote-first, async, very few meetings; we’re profitable and independent so you can ship fast and have real impact.

AI policy: AI can speed you up, but this is hands-on research and writing—you find and test the best courses yourself (not a prompt-engineering role).

Process: application review → paid writing test → interview with founder → paid trial → decision.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

They're not: "Please only post if you are actively filling a position and are committed to responding to applicants." Please restore it. I can show receipts.

That could certainly be. The trouble is that we have no way of sorting out which companies are doing what—there would need to be some kind of 'due process' whereby the community could assess the fairness of different claims, and Who Is Hiring threads are no place for doing that. So in the end we just ask people not to post these. It's not to deny that these things are a problem, just that it can't be fairly decided h…

How would you know if the see-saw tipped and the problem is more pressing when HN users are advised not to reply to job posts to complain about something?

Should users reply somewhere else or email HN directly? Should users accumulate karma and downvote or flag the posts? Care to put this in the text on top?

No one is asking you to pass judgment. I’m a long-standing member here telling my truth, and preventing me from warning others is reprehensible imho. There might be vindictive posts but people could judge them on the merits of their argument and history. But you are going out of your way to prevent expression. What is there to gain?

Thanks dohaa, definitely has a "head buried in sand" aspect to it. Sorry your comment is still dead, though I vouched for it.
