100% REMOTE | Multiple Roles for Defiant Inc which makes Wordfence.

Defiant.com is hiring. We make Wordfence. If you're interested in cybersecurity and want to help protect over 4 million websites from attacks, this is your dream job. We are 100% remote and have been since we started hiring in 2015. We're profitable, self funding, a team of 38 awesome happy people. We have an excellent work-life balance meaning that you only work around 40 hours a week or less with a ton of PTO and additional time off between xmass and new year. Our benefits package is absolutely spectacular. And we keep things pretty chill without any massive egos, confrontational folks etc. We just get it done in a collegial atmosphere. And if you're a dev you'll love that there are plenty of opportunities to 100% own your own project.

My wife (Kerry) and I are the founders and we still own and control the company/stock/board. Kerry is our CFO/COO and I'm CEO. Many companies have tried to buy us but we've stayed independent because we love what we do, and honestly we think most large corporations are quite dysfunctional. We're both deeply technical and work to maintain that DNA in the company.

Every year we take the entire team to DEF CON when feasible - hopefully this year again. However we aren't one of these remote orgs that make our team travel an inordinate amount. It's optional if you want it. (And between you and I, we fly everyone business class and always have. We just don't advertise that fact.)

Here's a video we posted a few days ago. It's an extract from a live show we do every Tuesday where Chloe Chamberland, one of our team members, is chatting about working at Wordfence/Defiant. Scott (the host) is part of our customer service team, Ram (later in the video) is part of our threat intelligence team, and Chloe in particular has had a spectacular rise through the organization to her role now which is Threat Analyst, and she regularly publishes research on our blog which is picked up by the press. Chloe is just one of our many amazing team members. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwuLmZUVvaQ

Chloe's publications: https://www.wordfence.com/blog/author/wfchloe/

Right now we have two senior PHP developer roles open, one senior secops role and a role for a senior researcher in website performance. Looks like the showrunner role is about to be filled by someone amazing, so that'll likely be gone by the end of the week.

I want to call out the performance researcher role in particular. We built https://www.fastorslow.com/ which uses headless chrome in 18 cities around the world to benchmark website performance using lighthouse internally. Benchmarks happen concurrently. We've built internal tooling to allow for large scale performance surveys of the web and the successful applicant will use those internal tools to publish breakthrough research on how performance differs across platforms, toolsets etc. So it's an interesting mix of being really interested in performance, being able to come up with original research and the ability to clearly write about it in a way that's accessible to most.

Here is a list of all our open roles: https://www.defiant.com/employment/

I hope to hear from you!!

Mark Maunder - Founder/CEO of Wordfence/Defiant.

PS: Please please don't email me directly even though my email is readily available. I'm not the hiring manager for any of these roles and all I'll end up doing is suggesting you apply using the channels available via Defiant.com. Thanks!
