#262Re: Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (July 2026)
#263Finance systems and data platform leader with 18+ years across eBay, Sonder, Adobe, and McAfee. I build planning platforms, internal tools, data products, workflow automation, and decision-support systems for Finance, Operations, and executive teams.
Most recently, I own FP&A planning systems and the Anaplan Center of Excellence at eBay. Previously, I founded the Finance Systems function at Sonder, migrated FP&A from Adaptive Insights to Anaplan, built planning/data pipelines with Snowflake, Python, SQL, dbt, and Airflow, integrated systems like NetSuite, Workday, Salesforce, and Tableau, and supported 150+ users across Finance and Operations. At Adobe, I built enterprise planning systems supporting $10B+ in annual spend.
I’m looking for roles where I can keep moving closer to software engineering while using my finance systems and data background: product engineering, data engineering, internal tools, forward-deployed engineering, technical product, finance/operations platforms, or AI workflow automation.
Best fit: teams building software around complex business workflows, data integrations, planning systems, analytics, automation, and tools for domain experts. I bring strong product judgment, finance/operations domain depth, systems thinking, and hands-on experience building with modern data tools and AI-assisted engineering.

#266Full-stack dev who ships and fixes web apps fast. I build SaaS MVPs, dashboards, and internal tools on Next.js and Supabase, add AI features to existing apps, and rescue broken or AI-generated codebases that fell apart once they got real. Recent work includes live on-chain AI agent guardrail systems with real settlement. Everything I hand over is tested and deployed, with source and handoff notes.

I'd like to land contract work, 10-40+ hours per week. I currently spend about 100 hours a week in my office building tech demos and seeking my first consulting/contract client in my new practice. I've probably done something similar to what you need, if you need backend or data engineer or CI/dev automation projects done. I'm not exactly a generalist but I've worn so many hats. I can start at a low intro rate for 90 days, I picture building long term relationships with trust established via increasingly important and urgent projects.I can travel on site as needed and work from my office normally. I've lived in the Bay Area for over a decade since college and am familiar with the lay of the land and culture and everything, happy to visit. Thanks.
