Cloudflare Workers KV | Senior software engineer | Remote US | Remote UK | Remote Portugal

Cloudflare in general provides website security and a CDN with locations all over the world.

Cloudlare Workers and related technologies (R2, KV, DO, D1) are part of the Emerging Technology and Incubation group (ETI) which focuses on edge developer technologies.

These roles specifically are for Workers KV where we are building one of the world’s fastest programmable caches at a very large scale - we’re currently in the middle of work to provide a ~10-100x latency reduction and a 60x reduction in write consistency (reading values globally within seconds of a write). Bring your distributed systems experience but also welcoming smart people capable of picking it up.

Your role will be in speccing out new features and performance improvements, engaging with the Discord community, collaborating with the runtime team, expanding the team more, and working with the EM and PM to set overall technical and product direction for the team once I transition my responsibilities to you after you are ramped up.

There’s also plenty of other roles within ETI and the rest of the company (I just happen to work on Workers KV currently). The team, org and company culture overall I find to be fantastic.

Mentra | Full Stack Engineer (Node/TypeScript/Next.js/React) | Charlotte, NC, USA | Hybrid (In-Person, ONSITE) | $100k-$140k, competitive equity and benefits

Mentra is building a neuroinclusive job network. 1 in 7 people worldwide are neurodivergent - people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, epilepsy, and other things that describe how people think and experience the world differently. However, 80% of these people are either unemployed or underemployed. We're building a platform that reimagines how talent get connected with employers, starting with looking at what matters. What factors will contribute to a candidate's success in a role? What do they need to be supported during the interview and post-hire process? How neuroinclusive is an employer in supporting the professional and skills-based development of their employees? Mentra considers all these factors in matching jobseekers with gainful employment.

https://mentra.me

We raised our pre-seed round from Sam Altman (OpenAI/YC), Scott Belsky (Adobe), and recently raised our seed round from leading VC firms in the US.

Mentra is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to support our rapid growth and trajectory in several business-critical areas. This is a unique opportunity join an early-stage startup as one of the first members of our engineering team. We're looking for a strong technical leader to work collaboratively with leadership & product teams and independently to drive value for our jobseekers, employers, and advocate partners.

Our tech stack includes TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, Prisma, PostgreSQL, and Azure Cloud. This role would report directly into the Chief Technology Officer, with a wide amount of latitude and ownership on our overall product strategy, design, and development.

Sorry for your bad experience! We review every application, but we don't reply to every one.

For candidates that we think could be a fit for the role we'll usually send over some questions over email, and then schedule an interview if we like the answers, or let them know we don't be moving forward.

Not sure what stange you got to (if we never replied to your application at all, or if you were emailing us and then didn't hear back)? Happy to look into your application and send some feedback if you reach out to me (ben@ipinfo.io).

unsolicited feedback, a 30min coding exercise before I even talk to a real human to know if the job is a fit is insane. edit: why doesn't this have a parent comment anymore? bug?

No one is going to do a face to face call with every candidate. Giving someone a coding exercise is the most time and cost effective way to filter people. Why waste time spending eng or HR hours calling someone when they can't code? As dumb as it sounds, giving a simple assignment probably culls the number of actually applicants down significantly.

I have done face-to-face calls with every plausible candidate. I prefer it and it's not hard to do.

I get a quick read on the candidate, which is handy, but more importantly, I get to sell them on the job. And I get to demonstrate that that, unlike somebody who thinks that talking to interested people is a "waste [of] time", I'm interested in the candidates as people. And will remain interested in them as people after they've joined.

A lot of hiring practices are built around the notion that jobs are scarce and workers are desperate. That's not true for good developers and hasn't been for years. I think the reason the attitudes are so persistent is that there are a lot of managers who like feeling powerful in relation to candidates, and that treating them like actual humans interferes with those feelings.
