I’m an entry level developer with skills in Python, Django, C++, Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and Assembly. I have an Associates of Computer Science from Piedmont Virginia Community College, work towards a Bachelors of Computer Science at James Madison University, and I have extensive training in networking and security through the military.

I’ve worked with distributed teams in the past, where I taught myself Blueprints for Unreal Engine 4, animation through Maya, and how to establish an animation pipeline.

I’m open to travel, and possible relocation in the future.

I'm looking for an entry level developer position. In the time it might take you to find that perfect programmer who knows exactly your stack, you could train me for half the cost! I have experience with structured and unstructured databases, REST apis and CRUD, browser extensions, and mobile apps.

  Location: San Diego, CA

  Remote: Yes

  Willing to relocate: Yes

Technologies: Rust, Python, sql, js, html, css, zsh / bash, linux, ansible, nginx, familiarity with many others. Strong in devops - I am self-taught and a very quick study, so I'm frequently building small projects out in new frameworks just to get a smell of things.
I discovered my love of engineering late in life, about 5 years ago, after a mercifully short military career and discovering that bar management wasn't interesting in the slightest. I would continue to code until I die regardless of whether there were money in it.

I would be an unconventional hire - I'm probably best suited to an unconventional team. I'm looking for a more junior role. I am a direct communicator and a self starter.

I love doing this stuff, and have no desire to break that passion on a FAANG or in the defense or adtech industries. I would prefer to negotiate salary than compromise on culture.

------

About me: Nearly 5 years experience as a full stack developer. That includes building internal business applications from the ground up (GUI, backend API, and server setup), CLI's, and web sites.

I have a background in graphic design (10+ years), which tends to give me a leg up in GUI development. Not a leetcode wizard by any means, but have been brushing up on my algorithms.

Most of the applications I've built have been of the smaller, monolithic variety. In the spirit of new challenges, and further developing my skill set, I'm quite interested in working on larger, distributed systems.

Currently pursuing full time positions. Not afraid to hop into new technologies.
