I'm Kowshik Islam, a Toronto-based software engineer with a knack for building scalable and efficient solutions. I co-created Herald, an open-source observability platform for distributed applications, and spearheaded initiatives in automatic provisioning, microservices architecture, and containerization. Prior to Herald, as a self-employed developer, I contributed to the open-source community through several web apps. My career began at OFGO Studio, where I led the modernization of our existing infrastructure with software tools, transforming us into one of the most efficient companies in our domain. My educational journey is unique: I graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), complemented by the first two years of Computer Science study, and a specialized software engineering track from Launch School.

I grabbed a piece shared by one of my customers, there are more comments at https://wiringbits.net (you can ring my phone from there).

I'm generalist that commonly deals with tricky problems, broken projects, flaky infrastructure, etc.

My goal with projects is that they work smoothly without much maintenance.

I'm looking for part-time work to fund my own product, I can increase my commitment temporary to deliver important milestones.

I have worked in anything from tiny companies to even enterprises where we delivered projects to FAANG.
