Parse.ly | Python Data Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer | Remote | Full-Time | https://parse.ly

Are you a Python programmer based in North or South America, interested in large-scale data processing (terabytes per month, petabytes in our archive), and making use of massively-parallel computing architectures, such as those behind Spark and Dask? Do you have any existing interests in real-time streaming data, such as can be powered by systems like Apache Kafka and Redis Streams? Or, are you a DevOps-minded Linux expert with a love of cloud automation, configuration management, and immutable architecture? If so, then you should apply for our fully distributed team, since we are hiring!

Python Data Engineers[1] write code that runs on hundreds of cloud nodes, using best-in-class distributed database technologies like Kafka, Cassandra, and Elasticsearch. Infrastructure Engineers[2] focus their Python and Linux skills on cloud server automation, such as Ansible and Terraform. Folks with both skillsets are on the same team, in the spirit of "true DevOps".

Members of this team power a massive time series analytics engine and content crawl database that offers an elegant user experience to hundreds of enterprise customers. We do all of this on a team that's "small enough to be nimble, but large enough to be dangerous." Right now, we are ~20 total product/engineering team members, spanning skills like backend Python batch / streaming jobs, frontend JavaScript / D3.js / Vue.js dashboard development / design, product management, and cloud automation with tools like Terraform and Ansible. About half of those engineers are in "Parse.ly Backend", which spans the Python Data Engineer and Infrastructure Engineer roles described above.

Join us to build the world's best content analytics system. Apply at work@parsely.com with a couple paragraphs describing why you're interested, and mark your subject line as either "Python Data Engineer via HN" or "Infrastructure Engineer via HN". In the email body, include your location/timezone in North America or South America; a link to any portfolio/code you think is relevant; a few lines or paragraphs on why the role is relevant to you; and/or direct attachment of your CV/resume.

We are wrapping up our 2021 hiring wave, after Parse.ly's recent acquisition by Automattic[3], which is itself: one of the world's largest fully distributed teams (1,800+ "Automatticians" with no central office, see: https://automattic.com/about/); one of the biggest champions of open source publishing + commerce (see: https://wordpress.com/features/, https://woocommerce.com/woocommerce-features/); and, the company behind popular technologies that power the open web (see: https://jetpack.com, https://akismet.com). We look forward to hearing from you!

Breakroom | Software Engineers, Designers, Product Manager, Content Manager | London, UK (hybrid) | Full-time | https://www.breakroom.cc

Breakroom's mission is to make every job a good job.

We crowdsource information about what jobs are really like, and publish it all online.

Unlike Glassdoor, we focus on frontline/blue collar work. Our information is detailed, structured and helps people in jobs like social care or warehousing make a well informed decision about what's important to them.

180,000 people have used us to find out if they get a good deal at work, and many, many more read and share our information each month.

We've just raised a $7M seed round from some great investors and we're now growing our team. There's currently 12 of us, becoming 20. There's loads of scope to grow with the business and make the role your own, but we're also big enough to get a lot done.

Of most relevance to HN, we're looking for full stack engineers who are keen to work with Elixir/Phoenix. No prior experience of Elixir needed - we'll support you to learn on the job.

We're also looking for designers, a product manager and a content manager.

We're building a world class team, so welcome applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in technology startups, especially women and gender minorities, people of colour, and people with a non-traditional educational background.

Interested? Ping jobs@breakroom.cc or just apply direct from the link at the bottom of https://www.breakroom.cc/about/

Sock Club (and Banner Goods) | Ruby on Rails Developer | Austin, TX | FULL-TIME, REMOTE, https://custom.sockclub.com and https://sockclub.com and http://bannergoods.com

How we buy goods is shifting it's reorganizing from around the automobile to around the smartphone and desktop. Sock Club has grown organically from a D2C e-commerce brand to a custom socks manufacturer and now to a service and design focused e-commerce experience. We are targeting the huge dinosaur industry of corporate gifts and promotional products. It’s an industry where service and design can separate us from other companies and where behemoths like Amazon can’t compete. We already have a service and design team that delivers a high quality experience to our clients. We are building a development core to build a web experience and software tools to make it so that team (staying the same size) can deliver the same experience to 10x the number of clients.
