Interesting that someone with your CV is looking to get hired on HN?

There should be lot of options in Germany currently, what I see when screening some boards?

Willing to relocate: Yes

Technologies: A bit of everything, lately beginning Docker, Terraform, AWS

Started working career as engineer almost 20 years ago, then went off to explore. Always kept up technical interests: Mathematics, Physics, Programming, Embedded Software. But unfortunately not super deep. Glad to start at the very beginning and work hard to learn and come up to speed. Can sort of go anywhere, can sort of accept any salary - just eager to build stuff well, instead of being a dilettante.

Fractional AI integration for startups with search, matching, or recommendation problems. I build semantic search and matching systems on your data, hand you the working code, your team owns it.

Most recent: built the matching layer for a funded recruitment marketplace (10k+ live profiles, pgvector, nearest-neighbor search, LLM summarization). Production. Running.

Looking for: seed to Series A companies where search/matching/discovery is core to the product but the team hasn't built the AI layer yet. Engagements are 2-4 weeks, not retainers.

Languages: English, German, Spanish, Romanian

I am a seasoned C++ developer with 23 years of experience in the industry. I have experience in Desktop, Embedded and Mobile development. I also did some back-end work and even some reverse engineering, though that was a while ago. I also have some ML experience (PyTorch) - also a while ago, but not that much. Most recently I've doing 3D graphics (simulation and later maps). My Linear Algebra is quite decent - I use it regularly.

My preferred next career move is independent contracting. 6-12 months contracts ideally. I will also consider permanent fully remote positions, but only quite senior ones - Staff Engineer / Architect level.

I've been fully remote since 2018 and I intend to keep it that way.

19 YOE designing, testing, building, operating, and automating ISP and carrier networks. From tiny 3 PoP mini ISP networks, to thousands of PoPs and tens of thousands of devices, and multi-continent global routing. I’ve worked in roles from engineering, to architecture, to product design. I’m an active participant in the global networking community; I attend and speak at conferences, engage in the IETF, and help to organise events. My spare time projects were in C, now I’m learning Rust, but the day job is all Python. I’d like to stay in the carrier/ISP space. I've most recently been working on network architecture, BGP analysis, and product development, but I love all areas of networking.

The last email address I posted here became overrun with spam, hence the obfuscation. Happy to talk via email or video call, drop an email to: "wwtbh", then the at symbol follows, after that comes “pm.me”.

Known for refactoring ruthlessly, hunting root causes, and fighting for the users often while talking with my hands.

Technologies: Are listed on my resume and gravitate around fullstack. To get past bad filters, I enumerate JavaScript TypeScript React Next.js Node.js Python Tailwind Linux Java Kotlin Android React Native Docker Git PostgreSQL GenAI AgentAI and Supabase.

Seeking: Bonus points for work in Health, Education, or Environmental sectors. Full remote is ideal, but Hybrid 40% in the Boston metro is fair game, and if you are still reading, have a wonderful day and make a stranger smile.

Statement: Hire me for versatility as a polyglot agnostic builder of stuff, mentorship capacity to strengthen your whole team, bulletproof optimism in a fast-paced and uncertain world, a low-maintenance and well-behaved ego, and the occasional classy dad joke (no, I don't have kids).
